Got a better place. Slide it under the emergency brake handel. Fits perfect, hidden, no bracket needed. 1 1/4" lb. bottle, kinda small, and a small compromise but just have to aim good. Now arent' you sorry you messed up your interior?

As an owner who's had a car fire in one my cars (88.5 TR); I'd offer three bits of advice:
1) carry an extinguisher. It did save my car from being totaled. 2) Get a Halon extinguisher (or CO2, though these units are larger). The dry-chemical extinguisher *corroded* the hot aluminum in my engine bay. This is just about as bad as having it burn up. 3)Mount it near the floor. Any mounting around your head isn't recommended. In an accident, that extinguisher would be a potentially lethal projectile. The extinguisher in the photo is dry chemical. You will really, really regret spraying that on hot aluminum if you ever have to, even if it stops your fire. Joe M. Last edited by jcmartz : 03-26-2006 at 05:47 PM. |

Good points. You can get halogen in mini bottles though. Mine is 10" x 2.5". Got it at.

Nice find! Great to have Halon in a smaller package. And it looks like the bottle in the picture may just be one of these units, so apologies if I didn't notice this before.

This is a great idea and I keep a Halon extinguisher in all of my cars.
However, funny story - I had a 35 minute argument one time with a genius NC State Policeman about how nitrous was illegal in NC. He absolutely would not believe that the extinguisher was an extinguisher and not a camouflaged spray bottle. I finally had to unclip it and hand it to him before he would accept that there were no hoses connecting it to the car, etc. I still got the speeding ticket, but hopefully he went home feeling slightly more humble than is the norm for law enforcement... ![]() |

Yea guys as mentioned, don't use the powder types if possible, they corrode & make a mess that's unbelievable ,of course not as bad as a melted Lambo, but, halon or CO2 or the newest type that replaced Halon (can't remember the name at the moment) are by far the best.
