Default How important is the front lift system?

Hey guys,

basically i'm 19 and in the market for a lamborghini gallardo here in Australia.

The problem i'm facing is the price difference between 2004-5 and 2006 Gallardo's.

As far as I'm aware this has a lot to do with the front lift system. can anyone explain to me how dire it is to have this system and if there are other substantial differences between the 2004-2005 and 2006 Gallardo's..

Kind regards in advance

Brynn.

05-06 Gallardos have the front lift system; only 04's do not. That said, I've had an 04 Gallardo for the last 5 years...I've never once wished I had the front lift system. Just angle the front over low dips and you'll be fine.

People generally recommend 06+ Gallardos due to the shorter gear ratios and standard inclusion of the Audi MMI A/V screen (which repalces the CD changer/tape deck found in all 04's and most 05's). Don't be afraid of 04's, though...in 5 years, all I've had to do is service fluids once a year (and I replaced the battery once). Gallardos are fairly bulletproof.

For me the lift system is critical. I would be home tied without it.

Some '04 cars have nose lift. Do you care if you scrape the nose of your car? If so, get one with nose lift, if not; save some $$.

My 04 G doesn't scrape nearly as bad as my Viper did, and those don't have the lift either........

It's a nice touch for those guys that like to slam em, but I've never needed it.

I have an 06 and I find it quite useful. I've scraped a few times and thought damnit I should have raised the front there. Now it's easier just to do it than to wonder.

Same here!

I also found that my car will scrap bottom when I enter my home driveway if I have someone else in the car with me. Without my lift I could not take my car to work. I guess it depends on where you take it. Downtown Honolulu parking facilities have steep driveways and without the lift I would be limited.

I use my lift when ever I feel like I'm going to scrape. Thankfully, its not that often. I just use it to make sure it gets used.

If you are used to driving a low car, the G is the easiest to avoid scraping low car I've ever owned. My vette is likely the worst (for scraping that is).

I let a buddy drive it and he scraped a little (my old bumper! Whew!) on a driveway. I told his arse to go more at angle, turn the wheel towards the driveway and he had no idea what I was talking about. He had NO low car driving experience.

My Viper was horrible, it would scrape everywhere. But then bumper cover of a Viper is significantly less money than a Lambo.

C5 Corvette lower air dam is the worst, of any car. But it's a replaceable piece, that's not-painted, so . . . Corvette owners don't care about scraping.

I have never had to use mine, and I drive pretty much everywhere. It just depends on where you live and your particular home driveway
