I just got my new Gallardo, and I went through the same process you are going through. I was hell bent on Pearl Yellow, and then I don't know what came over me, but I had to go black. I don't mind the upkeep, it is worth it! The only regret with Black is that it does not show off the air intakes like a bright color does.
I was also afraid that I would grow tired very quickly of a loud color. Not to mention I do need the extra attention the bright colors grab. I think black is pure and simple and absolutely awesome. It is powerful and dynamic and just looks incredible. Now having said all that, I really don't think there is a wrong or bad color on a Gallardo. This car is so drop dead gorgeous that it can wear anything and look fabulous. Good luck, Russ |

What a detail oriented guy. I love it. Went through the exact thing you are. Thought long and hard about a color, both inside and out. I've had many black cars, and they look fantastic, but I ultimately decided on orange for a few reasons, most of which are personal (not secret or anything silly, just preference) but the two biggest reasons were 1) you are right, the light colors show the lines better and 2) I doubt if I could ever buy ORANGE in any other car. It certainly stands out - thats the one thing I did not expect. I've had several sports cars, and I knew the G was special, but underestimated the magnitude of attention it gets...people take pictures while driving down the road - I look in my rear view and a guy has a camera - people pass and 50% of the time they are taking pictures. I believe a lot of the reason is the orange color. So just be prepared.
I'm guessing on resale, but I doubt the limited run will make much difference - they have made SO MANY Gallardo's compared to other models that the market it full of them, and will continue to be full of them. This volume will accelerate the depreciation on the lot. Since the most popular colors are orange and yellow, I think you would be able to sell one of those faster than black. Good luck - and have fun buying. |

I have a lot of black cars in the past and always loved it. My only problem with black cars, especially if it is a daily driver is that you have to clean your car more often, which I do not have the time. But other than that, it is a gorgeous color. In fact, I was looking at a black Murcie before finally decided to buy my orange one.
If you have the time to clean your car more often, I would suggest you go for it. Life is too short. Enjoy while you can. Always buy what you really like or you will regret it. |

Russk: Didn't notice about the air intake blending in with the black until you mention it. Another thing about black cars is they look waaay much better in person than in photos. Tough to capture a glossy black car on a photo (reflection etc).
Market Top: True on the Orange..not alot of cars can pull it off. Here's the other two with very diferent shades of orange; they also get the camera crowd going quick color is definitely a personal preference...Orange is still the front-runner choice..wife even have an orange baby stroller ![]() ![]() ![]() Walter: Totally agree, which is why we didn't want to either of the two Oranges that didn't have the clear bonnet. |
