Default Ethanol powered Lambo

If I wanted to convert a Murci. into running ethanol (E85 say), are there any well known exotic shops in North America that would take on such a project?

Just so you know, E85 will actually end up decreasing your gas mileage. This is because ethanol is a less potent energy source than gasoline. The effect is analogous to watering down your gas by 15%, except it is not a total energy loss (although it may as well be).

In addition, when ethanol is burned a similar (although slightly less) amount of CO2 is released when compared to gasoline. This means that you may end up releasing MORE CO2 into the atmosphere than if you remained on gas. This is because it will require more fuel to travel the same distance.

That said, I do believe that BioFuels, such as diesel and ethanol, are the way of the future, especially diesel. That old nut was hundreds of years ahead of his time! Unfortunately, though, the way world governments are going about it is the totally wrong approach, for numerous reasons including economic, biological, humanitarian, etc.

Now to your query. I do not know of any shops that would do such a conversion, but I am sure they are around. Even if you cannot locate an actual "shop", there are tons of people driving around on self-converted cars. I am sure you could find someone to help you with your project.

Interesting, yes, but probably not smart. To expand on Luke's comments: Ethanol has 66% of the energy of regular unleaded gasoline (87 octane). Therefore, E85, as a weighted average, has 71% of the energy contained in regular gas. Not only will you decrease your mileage (is that really a concern with Lambo owners?), but you will decrease your power too.

Precisely.

Mileage was the only thing I could think of when I heard his plan.
If you want a car to run on ethanol, just get a Koenigsegg CCXR.
Thats one wicked green car!
