Default to e-gear or not to e-gear ? that is the questions

hi all

i went to test drive the murci at my dealer yesterday and all they had was the gallardo syder with e-gear
(btw a lot of questionable types seem to hang out at lambo dealers on saturdays, wannabe tony sopranos and the ilk and old blondes in too tight jeans...more than one)

i took it out so i could check out the e-gear and will go back to test a stick-murci (its a murci i would buy)

so i spanked that little car and was mightally impressed with the downshifts that blips the throttle to help match revs, the upshift i thought needed a lot of help and upset the car in sport mode
actually very impressed with the whole car, lambo doors would render the murci much less relevent

overall though pretty impressive i must say

so... my questions for those who have actual experience with both are:
1 do i stick or e-gear ??? ( i am a hands on ex-racer...)
2 will the murci stick be as utterly crap as my 93 diablo ?
3 if i get a used murci with e-gear what is the 1st year available, does it have realibility issues and does the 1st generation e-gear blip the throttle on the downshift

one last question does ferrari have a paddle shift like this ? not that i would buy a ferrari but i am curious as to their technology

thanks !

Yes, Ferrari has it available on all of their current models, referred to as F1. In fact, its actully pretty rare to see an F430 with a stick. Also, the Enzo came only with the F1 trasnmission.

Don't see how anyone can make this decision for you especially since you've driven both and it really is a personal preference. If your asking for opionions, I'd take the 6 speed all day long. E-Gear makes you cede way too much control to a computer. I don't like that at all.

The Murcie stick is smooth and a pleasure to drive...the older Diablos made you kind of work for the gears, which for some, was the appeal !! Go with the six speed...and when you're ready to buy, call Cats, we'll get you the best deal hands down...good luck with your decision !!

I have a Gallardo with the E-Gear. I agree, on downshifts it is awesome but definitely upsets the car on upshifts. I am sereously thinking about trading this little girl for a murci roadster stick!!

Default e gear

As long as you have four wheel drive e gear will not work right.

In the Ferrari 430 f 1 -E gear works perfectly both shift units are made by Marreli I am not sure of the spelling.
