Actually, my Gallardo is not a real gas expense for me..at least not when I compare it to going out on my boat with friends for a day of scuba or freediving, or just "cocktail cruising" :-)
Half a day is about half a tank, the way it tends to work out, and that is around $350 each time...every saturday and sunday, weather permitting ( diving is not as much fun with waves over 5 feet--the boat ride part of it).
So the Gallardo seems more like an economy toy at the moment :-)

Umm, you paid 6 figures for a car but a trip to the gas pump costs you an extra couple bucks and you stop driving it? What's wrong with this picture?

Consider this:
Most of us will pay $3 a gallon for Fiji water that needs no refining. IMO gas is still a value at $3 to $4 per gallon.

I agree. Everything has gone up. Just not fuel. When it premium fuel hits 5 dollars, I'll be concerned.

That was going to be my next question. If not now how much higher does it have to go to make a difference. I'm sure the hard core enthusiast will hang in there, but all the marginal buyers that have made Lamborghini so successful in the past few years are going to sit on the sidelines. I see Lamborghini coming out with some kind of mass appeal fuel efficient model if they're going to survive in the long run. Surely they must see this.

I really did not pay attention to the miles I drove on that event. All I know it is at least more than 1 hour drive and I was having so much fun driving at HIGH speed.

It seems both Ferrari and Lamborghini are looking into E85 BioFuel, so once the government starts lowering taxes on those eco-fuels (read: prices rise slower than regular gas), that'll make a difference...

But again, at over 9$ a gallon here, I still consider it cheap over in the US

$9.00 is insane. I don't have any faith in those biofuels either as a long term cure.

Unless they start running cars on water or air, it'll be tough to find a real long-term solution...

Nuts ain't it? That's about 1$ a mile on a Lamborghini... Just for fuel...
But boy is that V12 roar worth it
