Default Double Clutch

I was wondering if anyone knows if Lambo will goto the double clutch.
The double clutch is coming out in the new Ferrari California. Its a sealed wet system that is suppost to last the life of the car. Porsche and BMW have also gone to this clutch system.
With the way clutches go on F1 and E-Gear cars, this seems like a smart idea.

They will when it can handle the power.Porsche has it only on Carrera, not on turbos.

Audi installs a 6-speed DSG (Direct Shift Gearbox) now in the TT which is a sweet double-clutch box, but it doesn't have the strength needed to handle the higher horsepower engines.

I understand they are preparing to introduce a 7-speed DSG that will be mated to their 520+hp V10 in the R8. Not sure who builds these boxes for them, but I'm guessing others on this forum can fill in the details. If it lives up to expectations, I wouldn't be surprised to see it in the Lambo, too.

Yes but Veyron transmission cost around $300K.It's not cost effective to put in a Gallardo or Murci.
Audi A4 has DSG(Double Clutch). They don't last long and very expensive to fix.Sometime the repair cost more than what the car is worth.
Nissan GTR also has DSG but that has 480hp and we don't know how reliable it's going to be.
I think in a year or 2,we will see more cars with DSG when they are more reliable.
Porsche is planning to offer DSG with GT2 next year but not this model year.

Anyone have any updates to this?
Saying the double clutch can't handel the power isn't true anymore.
The new F458 Italia has a double clutch as well as the California.
When's lambo gonna address the clutch problems with a double clutch in the bulls?

The new Turbo has the PDK gearbox now

The clutch problems have nothing to do with the fact they're single or double clutch. Double clutch still uses clutchdiscs that can wear out. It's the overall design of the box and gearbox computer that does it...

As VAG (the Volkswagen company) now owns a majority in Porsche, maybe we'll see the PDK find its way into an upcoming Lambo

Personally, I don't like those DSG things, the sound when shifting is just as exciting anymore. Fine for a diesel or cruiser, not so for a sportscar.

Just my 2 cents worth though

i hear the dual in the california is really the future of clutches....have been considering buying the car for some time....if i grab it i'll let u know what the hype's About...as far as lambo i hear these clutches dont last long and everryone who's sick of the 5-$8k service seems to go with a kevlar clutch for longer life....these tires are a pain to replace every year too....you'd think such expensive shiat would last longer.

There was indeed a problem with the e-gear clutches on the earlier cars. Lamborghini made several improvements over the years, and the revision E clutch was the last one AFAIK. This solved the problem on almost every car.
Abuse and misuse will obviously use your clutch disc quite quickly.
A buddy who had a 2007 G Spyder did about 30.000km with spirited driving, some launches, and the clutch was as new. He told me he knows how to ruin a clutch in 10 minutes without even doing a launch though...

Never heard anything about having to replace tires every year though?

its actually every half a year if you drive the standard 12k miles per year & use it as a daily...pzero's are only rated for like 5500 miles...i stretched mine to 7k and down to the wear bars....had to replace em just to pass inspection...your friend with the 07 spyder(thats what i have) how many miles did that e-gear clutch last?
