i think that i understand all you have red, so, i think that if i use a gallardo whit e-gear is better if i drive in twisty road, enjoy in sunday near my house in the country in empty street. but i think that the manual can do this good as the e-gear... in the traffic you say that the manual is better and probably the cluth don't smell because you can take low rpm because for go in slowly traffic you only push the clutch... whith e gear the computer push the cluth after accereating at more than 1000rpm... but i dont know if this type of engine switch of if use only the clutch to go forward in the traffic (i hope you understand the concenpt.... i'm not very clear... and my english is bad)..

but i'm thinking... the manual gear box of the gallardo is much reilable then e-gear???? maybe is the reason because all take the e-gear and not the manual??? you know sometingh about it??

there are little different beetween 04 and 06 gallardo... but in generaly this car suffers for problem of reliability? you know something about uncontrollable serious damage? like blow of engine, broken ditribution belt, loss or burn motor oil? suspension problem? or something like this? things that are out of a common manteinence.

a gallardo whith more than 30000 miles.. is a bad choise? probably breaking soon something of very exensive?

i know that are a lot of question but only you can help me to understant something of live whit this beautiful car...

thank thank thanks!!!!!!!!

I think I can answer part of your questions. I don't have a Gallardo but I do have an LP640 and so my experience is a little different. In my case, if I keep the e-gear engaged while in heavy traffic, the clutch slightly engaged. Not enough for the car to roll forward, but it is engaged. As long as my foot is on the brake, it remains engaged. If I take my foot off the brake, it automatically disengages after a few seconds and goes into neutral. I can manually shift to neutral in heavy traffic for less wear on clutch by simply remembering to shift to neutral.

I have read other posts where e-gear owners have had a clutch overheat light go on in heavy traffic. The response to the post was to remember to shift back to neutral when stopped. Not shifting into neutral is the same as slightly riding the clutch. I prefer e-gear, especially in heavy traffic because I don't have to work my leg as much depressing the clutch. I try and remember to shift to neutral as much as possible.

There are going to be slow-rolling situations that are not ideal for either car. I didn't think I would like e-gear but read more posts that were more in favor of it than not and I changed my mind. Now that I have it, I am extremely happy.

As for major problems. I don't see a lot of posts where people are unhappy with their cars overall due to major problems. I would post the questions about the Gallardo on the Gallardo Topic and see what owners have to say. As for miles on a car, I am amazed by the large number of people who don't drive their cars on a daily basis so I think you should be able to find a car with very low miles somewhere.

I agree with Tom. I have a Gallardo E-gear. I myself was very fond of manual and was very skeptical of E-gear until I drove one. After that, manual is history.

I drove an E-Gear before I bought my manual. I have no complaints about it, I just like the manual more. As mentioned in my earlier post, the only think I don't like about the manual is the shift gates, the long throw and the fact that the gears don't go in smoothly(especially when the tranny/engine is still cold). I do experience clutch smell, is this normal?

I'd check with your nearest dealer. If there isn't one handy, I'd give Myke Tran a call at Lamborghini Orange County. The guy knows just about everything about the cars.

i smelt the clutch for the first 50 miles of my new gallardo and brought it in to have it checked out- they told me i had relatively no wear on the clutch and the smell had disappered. 150 miles on her now and no smell at all and rides great- i would tell anyone if they experience this to play it safe and bring it back in for a loo but this does seem to be somewhat common for the first 50 miles or so till she breaks in a bit

The shifting of the manual transmission , I find, is lightening fast; the (metal) gate has no effect, for me. Clutch 'smell' ??
There should not be any !! If your egear causes the clutch to 'smell', well you've got a bad robot, lol. Shifting a manual tranny is not something you think about; it's just as natural as breathing; if I had an egear and had to remember to put it into neutral in certain situations to prevent clutch smells etc.; well, who needs it. When they get it totally bullet-proof....maybe. Until that time, it's like cell phones: not perfected yet till there are NO dropped calls !

I have an 08 Lp640 Roadster with a 6 speed manual transmission that I would not trade for an E gear. On a daily basis I enjoy controlling the engine with the manual. After awhile with normal driving the Egear feels like an Automatic Transmission and is less exciting to me. Now if I was tracking the car a lot then the Egear would be more enjoyable.
