Default Diablo brake disc on almost on fire

Had a problem with my front right brake disc.
I had noticed a squeaking noise when turning right.
Took it to the dealer in Hong Kong but of course the sound was not obvious and they could not pin point a problem (this occured right after a service and a replacement of tie rod/bearing).
A 3 months later the noise was getting worse, so I decided to take it in for a good check, but the weather was horrible - storms and rain for a few weeks.
So I decided to leave the car gararged untill the weather cleared up.
So finally the rain dried and I decided to drive it one more time befor the check up, and disaster struck.
I was only about 4 Km from home when the car wanted to veer right, and a burning smell wafted into the cabin.
I decided to call it a day and head straight home since it was close.
The brakes grumbled and when I got home and got out to take a look theright front disc was glowing red. Smoke poured out and the Lambo badge on the wheel melted.
I was scared and confused. I felt my wallet lightening up by the ton. Imagining how much it would cost to repair it.
I wonder if this has happened to anyone here before?

The repair cost will be more than HK$ 80000 (as I am told) which is about US$ 10300.

Yikes, never heard that before. So the pistons seized and now caliper rotor etc. is probably all damaged?

So were talking caliper, rotor and probably lining. I would start looking on Ebay for some used parts, have a dealer give you a list of what needs to be replaced. You should be able to cut your cost down at least in half. If not ebay, there are some other companies that sell used parts.

Dealer said I need new calipers, rotors, disc pads ect.
Hence the ridiculous cost.

Hi Eric,
I will be going back to Europe last week of July and first week of August.
If you can get a list of parts you need, I can try to find them there and bring them back with me in HK (if you don't ask for half of the drive train... )

I cannot bring myself to trouble other generous people on this site.
Your offer truly touches my heart.
I have already ordered the parts through Kingsway HK.
But thank you once again for your offer.

Hi Eric,
I am also in HK with a Diablo and have just had all my disks and callipers etc replaced by for a lot less than what you have been quoted. Might be too late as I just read you have already ordered through Kingsway.
Can help you in the future if you want.
Scott

Glad to see the HK boys come out of their box little by little...
As soon as the roof top is set and the barbecue delivered (be patient, I've just been here for a couple of month), how about having a burger and a few beers in the Gold Coast ?

Eric,
No worries. If you need anything, just let me know. I'll probably have time to pass by Switzerland and take my Tahiti for a ride. I'll therefore stop by Marcel's my genious mechanic...so if you need things, let me know.

Where do you have your Diablo serviced ?

You know I love my Diablo, I treat her better then I treat myself ,but I am tempted to sell it. I have been the owner for the last 7 years.

What might I get next ? Well I guess the mention of a Nissan might get me spanked here !!!!!!

Hi Eric,
I normally have my Diablo serviced at N1 Auto Mechanics at Connaught Rd west. The guy there is named King and he really knows his stuff. Saves me ALOT of money. His number is 25171330
At the moment I'm doing a complete rebuild on the car so he has taken it over to his buddy, CK Lo at KK Motors in Kowloon Bay. Hopefully it will be back on the road in a couple of months to fill the Inland Revenue's speed camera account!
Eric my number is 98471164 if you need to get in contact.
Cheers,
Scott
