Carbon fiber repair?

I have 2001 6.0 that has a scratch on the driver side kick plate in the unpainted carbon fiber. Is there any way to repair this?

How bad is the scratch? I thought you could "just" buff CF and reseal it if required...

The scratch seems "surface like" possibly in the clearcoat/Gelcoat. Buff in what way? With What?
I'm a new owner learning the basics!
