Default Any regrets?

I"m looking into buying a 04 Gallardo, trading in my 996 Turbo. My turbo is all modded out, and I've been a Porsche owner for over 20yrs, I'm kinda torn. Has anyone been in the same boat? Any regrets trading up? Here's a few pictures of the Turbo. Any comments would be helpful.

I have been a porsche owner off and on since 1969 and I have no regrets, however these are 2 very different cars. The lambo feels heavy but mo0re solid. The turning radius on the lambo is somewhat limited compared to my current Cayman S. I never had a turbo so I cannot comapre the power.

I love all my POrsches and they served me well at the time. I just wanted something different and beautiful that I don't see on every corner. The other thing is the sound, without a modified exhaust system the porsches all seem muffled.

I still have to log some miles to give a proper comp but I have to say that I am having more fun with my new lambo than I ever did with any of my Porsches.

I had a 911 carrera before getting my Countach. I'm now looking at a Diablo. NO REGRETS, NO SECOND THOUGHTS EVER.

I had a 996 coupe, and 997 Carrera S before I bought my first Lambo which is a 2008 Gallardo Spyder. Although my Porsches were not comparable to your Turbo, but no regrets at all especially now I have my Murcie with MS Racing exhaust. I am not saying Porsche is no good. In fact it is a very good car. I just like Lambo better.

Yep. Totally different cars. Now, mine were a bit older than yours. I had a normally asperated(sp?) 993 and a 993 turbo (ah yes, one of the last of the air cooled). Loved them. The turbo was silly fast, but it always felt that at any moment I would be airborn north of 100 mph. I've had a G at 150 and if felt totally planted on the road. No doubt in part because its heavier. The G does get tons more looks - which is both good and bad. Net net...I'm glad I have the Gallardo.

Market Top,

About the LOOKS.. I got a few looks now and then in my Porsche, especially when I was filling it up at the gas station, but what I am seeing now with my Gallardo is anything short of borderline embarrasing.

People will do all kinds of funny things to get a close up look (not that I blame them, I did the same thing before I owned one). What I find funny is the way people get so excited about the car. They all seem to be smiling so it must be a good thing!

The other thing that can be a little tricky is when people ask you have much it cost, which I would rather they didn't. I have found the average Joe has no idea. I usually say something like "enough to keep me working for another 10 years", and they reply that must mean it cost about 150K huh! Well at that point I just say yeah your getting close, and try to leave it at that.

My neighbor pinned me down the other day, and said tell me really what did that set you back, so I told him and he just went nuts. He could not believe it and then told me I was nuts and I haven't seen him since. Oh well as long as my wife still loves me!

Aloha Russ

Russ - when the topic turns to price, as it almost always does, I simply say "It was on sale". So far no one has pushed me. I have found this to be true of all the car's I've had, not just the Lambo - and that line has served me well. Now, clearly, I don't live next to your neighbor....

I still have my Supercharged 996 and I agree with everyone it's a totally different car. After buying the Gallardo I actually enjoy driving my 996 even more. I enjoy driving both, but now driving the 996 is so relaxing...no looks, less attention.

if you're all about speed I'm willing to bet your modded turbo will be faster than a stock G...
