Default Advice

Hi

I am new to this forum. I live in South Africa and am very interested in acquiring a Countach. There are two that are available:

The first is a 5000S in yellow that is being sold by the local Lambo agents. The car is in concourse condition and has recently had the engine and gearbox completely overhauled.

The second car is a white LP400S (1982) that has surfaced at an auction house where the owner is offloading his entire exotic car collection (including a RHD Uracco). The white car is in average condition and I do not have any details of its service history.

I am looking to buy the Countach in partnership with a good friend of mine. We are both long-standing car enthusiasts and currently own between us a 1981 ferrari 308 GTSi, 1975 Ferrari 308 GTB Glassfibre, 1971 Porsche 911E, 1972 Porsche 911S Targa, 1973 Porsche 911 RS Lightweight and a 1995 Porsche 993 Carrera. Over the past years we have owned a Ferrari 246 Dino, Ferrari 512BB, Ferrari 365 GT4 2+2, Porsche Carrera 3.2, Porsche 911 SC, Porsche 911S Targa and more.

I mention these cars to illustrate that we are classic car people and in no way underestimate the challenges of owning, driving and mainitaining a sophisticated car such as a Countach.

Regarding the Countach, I am naturally looking to get advice around which of the two cars seems the better bet (obviously taking into account that the white car will literally be half the price of the yellow one).

In addition, can someone give me an idea of where I can get parts such as clutch, exhaust, water pump and how much these parts cost.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards

Mike
