Roy: Will you be an investor in the dealership or possibly the dealer principal? Or are you going to use your contacts to make deals and act as the middleman/broker? Also I read somewhere that Lamborghini may place the new dealership in Oregon? any truth to that?

If Lamborghini wants to sell Murcielagos and Gallardos why not have a dealership in Washington and Oregon? For all the late model cars advertised right now I would think more dealers/ service centers would become a necessity not to far in the future. I have been told that Tonkin has shown interest and we know Roy has interest. One dealership per state certainly couldn't be construed as too many, could it? With P cars, F cars, Maseratis, Ford GTs, and others pushing or past 100k it seems like Lamborghini needs to get with the program. A Tonkin salesman told me they can acquire and work on used lambos now. That's fine for the initial purchase but what about a service that requires proprietary software/hardware and specialised knowledge. I would be much more impressed by 2 small shops with overhead doors, a small office and qualified staff than by 1 large facility with plate glass and granite tile showrooms. But hey that's just me. When I'm ready to buy I want to have the car up on a lift, pull the wheels, examine the underside for abuse. These are serious cars that should go to serious buyers imo. Am I being unrealistic Roy? Is it just about volume?--Dave

I agree with you 110%, we NEED the service in EVERY state. I dont see any problem with one in Seattle and one in Portland. Until there are more dealers and service LAMBORGHINI will never be a contender against the other super cars.........I know they want the numbers, however until we can provide a LEVEL of comfort to all that buy.....that all they need to do is take a short drive to their local dealer for service and not out of state or out of country, this will not happen. They need to establish the level of quality and reliabilty in these new aged cars prior to the numbers going up.......thiscan only be done with an expanded dealer network. What amazes me is why they dont do it....it does not cost them a dime....BELIEVE me!! And I don't buy the fact themore dealers will hurt the current dealers count...to the countrary, it will make all dealers BETTER to get and keep the returning customer...........not the current additude of some dealers......"oh well were else you going to buy?" Hoping I will be part of this chane for the better I await.................

For those who might not remember, Washington State used to have a Lamborghini Dealership back in the late-90's. It was called Bellevue Alfa Romeo, Lamborghini, Laforza.

However, when the owners of that dealership bought Grand Prix Motors in Seattle (the Ferrari, Maserati, Alfa dealership), and renamed it "Ferrari and Maserati of Seattle", they had to give up Lamborghini.

Since that time, Washington has been without a Lamborghini dealership. That is until Roy came along. Lets all keep our fingers crossed and hope he gets it.

With all the money up here in the Northwest (with Microsoft, and a host of other companies), there is no shortage of money.

From my perspective running the Seattle Italian Concours, we have gone from not being able to get one new Lambo at our show (due to nobody having them), to Roy selling Gallardo's and Murci's left and right.

Until the city of Seattle made us cancel our event last year 2 weeks before it was to occur, we had 3 Murci's, 2 Gallardo's and 2 Diablo's registered on top of the usual Miura's, Islero's, Jalpa's, Espada'a, Countach's and Jarama's we get every year.

This says it all Roy:
"all they need to do is take a short drive to their local dealer for service and not out of state or out of country"
This says alot too Mike:
"However, when the owners of that dealership bought Grand Prix Motors in Seattle (the Ferrari, Maserati, Alfa dealership), and renamed it "Ferrari and Maserati of Seattle", they had to give up Lamborghini."
Granted Lamborghini does not produce the volume of Ferrari, so why even try to compete. Tonkin salesman told me they may have to open a seperate Lamborghini facility to keep Ferrari happy. IMO Tonkin has enough dealerships and they may be interested in Lamborghini but, they may not be the best fit. Roy on the other hand seems to care about the brand more than the buck. Maybe Oregon and Washington (and Roy) could have 1 regional service and sales center where the object of the business was quality of ownership (therefore quality of life). The roads in the NW are made for these cars, just need a place to get the service done so they can be driven.
Roy, is there anything that us board members can do to help you in this endeavor? Email Lamborghini ? I for one would help in any way I could.--Dave

I would expect that Roy would want the business to be profitable. There is a large amount of $ needed to start a dealership even with Lamborghini putting up some of the money which is not always guarranteed. The relatively low volume of Lamborghini's, even with the increased production of the Gallardo, may not be enough to make the venture profitable. Obviously a buisness plan needs to be put together to see if the venture is doable. It may be that another brand or two would have to be added to make it pay off. As you may notice, most Lamborghini dealerhips also represent other brands. Bently and RollsRoyce is often paired but these franchises are not east to get. A Audi store combined with Lamborghi might work unless there is an existing Audi store too close to where this new venture would be located. Its great to love the Marque but it takes more than that to make it a profitable business as I am sure Roy knows. Otherwise you wind up with a hobby that may lose money.
