Default Espada S3 - Buying advice

Hi,

new to the community but has always got a hick-up with the Espadas. Although aquainted with wrenching old cars the Lambos seems a bit complex and expensive to fix.

Considering a green S3, 45k miles, fabulous interior, all original, full history. On the other hand AC not working, ventilation controls not working, occasional oil drips from the engine. Said to be inn full driving order and well maintained- no rust claimed. Owner boasts 400 hp which must be wrong.

What should it cost ?- asking 50k (assume this to be over the top)

What are the critical items to look for when buying one- said to have had a factory engine rebuild at around 25kmls, should I expect a new overhaul any time?. Interested in all hints (like perished NLA seals, details, signs of wear, noises etc, etc.)

I guesss these cars apply to the rule of buy the best you can find to avoid a persistent wallet drain in the years to come.

Best

Looking on a S3 myself , with wrecked interior and some outer damage.
Little rust (close to zero) , engine not running in 14 years. Looks complete and untouched. Price ; 40K (USD) but car is in Norway , which you are located too I see.

UPDATE : I bought the car !

As I can understand by now , the most important with these cars is that all parts are there , and that they are not rusty , which could be a structural problem , as these cars have no frame. Price quote you got sounds ok by me.
Engines are normally good if looked after regularly. Cam chains must be manually adjusted and so on... Technically the engine should be 350HP and very reliable. However , could smoke a little due to valve stem sealing problems. Also look out for bad water pump , as it can bring water into oil system if sealings are rotten . Better rebuild pump, and flush cooling system properly. Best of luck....

Hi,i just Bought One that was completely restored at the Factory in 1991-1992,but only driven 4000 kms since. The cost for the job at St Agata was close to 160.000USD in todays exhange rate.Unfortunaltely i blev a head gasket, and have to fix that.Have a friend that is an Expert on Lamborghini Espada(good to have)! Here in Sweden

Still, many cars are in a poor condition, and they are just as expensive to restore as any Lamborghini. The problem is tha they might have been bought cheap, and then not looked after by the owner-due to the high costs in parts and labour-if you dont know how to work on the car yourself. And that has given many of them a bad repurtation an sometimes a low value.A car in a wery good condidtion,or restored should be considerably more expensive than a car with a bad interior, defect gearbox, smoking engine-bad electrics
Bad suspension, rust and so on.So if you buy a Car for Lets say 15-20.000USD,you are probably just looking at the entrance fee.Pay more and get a good one.You deserve It.The Car Deserve It!
When they ar 100% working is it a fantastic car,and I predict that the value will go up on the good ones-but not on the "Bangers"

Below is a Picture of My Car in the Beginning of the 80ties White "Pimped"with Gold details"Now its in "Giallo Fly",but was originally Dark Brown Metallic when it was restored on the Factory,as it was the color it had New,with Interrior Senape. Also the right type of seats with the "holes".Regards Patrik Sweden
