Default Radar Detector

Hi guys, I want to install a radar detector on my 2008 Gallardo Spyder. I do not want to hang it on my sun visor. I want it concealed. Any suggestions on the unit and where to have it installed?

Do a search (by clicking) for radar on the site, there are several (threads) discussions regarding the exact same thing, im sure you will find your answer....

I had the Passport SRX installed a few months back in my SL...radar detection and Laser jamming...seems to have saved me more than a few times already...love it.

Mmm, K40 is killer but no radar detection...I think the passport or bell are better integrated systems and performance on the laser jammers is negligible compared to the K40

I am also looking at adding a radar detector to my gallardo and the lambo dealer recommended the Valentine 1 (about $450). It covers the car 360 degrees and detects radar, laser, and has a jammer feature as well. You can have this hard wired in the car and suction cup the head unit anywhere on the windshield. I was told the wires will be concealed under the headliner.

Huh? I have a K40-2000 and its radar detection is killer and its 100% hidden. Part of the trick is finding the best place for the receivers as that makes the difference. I played with the receiver locations for a few months and eventually found the best places. At its worse, its equal to a V1 and thats based on a side by side comparision.

The downside is that many local CHP seem to have switched to lidar.

Sorry guys, the K40 is sold to well heeled drivers who really don't need much protection--who don't really drive that fast....it is slick looking, but will not perform nearly as well as the Escort 8500 or top bel detectors....and the best laser diffuser by far is the M 40 laser blinder....I have the Escort 8500 and the M 40 laser blinder-- I drive very fast every day, and have no tickets--have gone through over a dozen laser traps at speeds over 90 and never has a cop come after me.

While I would like a slicker looking radar detector on my Gallardo than the windshield mounted Escort, performance is far more important.

Regards,
Dan
