Law would be an excellent field if you are truly interested in it. Though, make sure that you are prepared to take the bar several times - it can be discouraging. Also, it can be VERY lucrative if you don't go to work for the DA's office, etc. I think the best areas to get in on that field are defense attorney (private) and class action. Hope this helps.

My name is Dave, and I'm sick of college already. I check these forums daily and continuously read about all of your great success, everyone's homes and cars...specifically exotics.. I know very well that none of this comes without hard work. What I'm getting at is, I really do not want to go to college. I want to start my own business, with a few friends...but I'm not exactly sure how to go about this. As an 18 year old with barely any funds, a minimum-wage job and still living at home, do you think it would be smart to just go the college route and then maybe start a business after? I want to work for myself, but right now it seems this is not an option. Are there any entrepreneurs on these forums that started out at the young age of 18? or maybe younger? The point of this post is basically frustration. I need wisdom from someone, someone who has been there and experienced it and can tell me what I should do. Right now I have absolutely no direction. Note, also, that my parents are paying in-full my college education, should I decide to continue with it. Lucky me, I do appreciate this but I am not sure if it is really what I want.

Any help, advice, "your an idiot" or anything of that nature is welcome.

I'll take any direction I can get right now

Dave, I'm 17 years old and I hated school with passion. Considering the fact that the teachers were horrible and didn't really teach anything - only giving everyone worksheets to do, I took my own way and started homeschooling. In the meantime, I learned how to work with Photoshop and lots of web technologies. Now, I own a graphic design business and I get paid quite well! I started my own big project as well, and its been giving me a good bit of money! I might even get to buy my murcielago or gallardo this july =).

The point of this isn't to brag, it's just to tell you -

If you have a feeling of success, go for it. Don't listen to anyone. Hell, I'm 17 years old, and I make a whole lot more then a lot of adults out there.

Yes, there are some people become very successful without college degree. But according to research, the odds are against you. Majority of the non-college grads are making far less money. Can you beat the odds?

This is a great topic!

I'm currently 21 and I have the dream of one day being able to afford a lamborghini. However, owning a lamborghini is one of my many goals along with being financially stable and not having to worry about money. I'm currently a junior in college and I'm majoring in accounting with a second degree in BISM.

Best of luck!

At least get a BA in Business Administration so you have the tools and backing to start said business. Make wise financial decisions in life and don't expect to have kids anytime soon lol..
