Default Ok, this is always brought up on other forums. The beer thread...

Feel free to show your stuff and voice your opinions. I tend to lean toward the hoppy side of the fence, with Dogfishhead 120 Minute imperial ale being (IMO) the finest beer made while still tasting like beer. I've got multiple seconds, including:
Dogfishhead 90
Stone Vertical Epic 08.08.08 (San Diego)
Stone Ruination
Great Lakes Burning River (Cleveland)

The typical selection in the garage/beer fridge:

The camping collection:

Some interesting labels you've got there
Do you collect beer? If you're interested in foreign beers: I'm in Belgium

Huge fan of Dogfish Head here. 120 is a bit too bitter for me but 90 is just right.

I spot a Dead Guy Ale. Very nice...

Couple of suggestions
Blue Point Toasted Lager. Simply incredible.
Anything from Flying Dog.

Well, I haven't had a good collection of store bought beers in a year. I've pretty much been drinking only what I brew, unless someone wants to bring over something good. So far I've brewed:

American Light
Irish Stout
Oktoberfest
Porter (just this weekend, will be ready by Christmas)

I suppose my list of what I don't like would be shorter than what I like.

Jason, I love that you have a "camping collection". We love to camp, and drink when camping.

Couple of things here. I wouldn't really say I "collect" beers as some collect wine. I just don't have the space, or patience for that matter to do that. I just like to drink different stuff. I suppose I enjoy each experience.

In Belgium, you say? I would say that, out of the various genres of beers, I know less about Belgians and other whites than I do about ales and lagers, but maybe more so than dark beers. Unfortunately, I really don't have quite the budget to go experimenting with the various Trappist brews, but would like to someday.

It's funny about the 120. I never really hear any "middle of the road" responses after I pass one around to sample. It's typically either "OMG, that's effing horrible", or "this is one of the best beers ever made." To me, it's 480 calories of Valhalla. Strangely, my wife likes the 120 better than the 90, and she's somewhat anti-hoppy.

Dead Guy is a damn good, VERY drinkable beer.

I think the only Flying Dog product I've tried is their Doggy Style ale, but will try to branch out here. Also, never tried the Blue Point, and will put that on the ever-expanding list.

I really should get into brewing. I just worry that I'll botch it all up, and never try again. However, I suppose I do have the advantage of a wife who already owns all of the equipment (she got it all before we were married). I may give it a shot over the cold months.

Yeah, the "camping collection" gets more and more high-end every year. That last picture alone was somewhere in the $160-ish range. I do a Labor day 5-day event every year on my parents land in the Finger Lakes area of NY. Lots of beer snobs tend to descend on it, hence the variety.

Am I going to have to create a Paypal beer slush fund to send you guys money for such things?

I'll see what sort of "authentic" Belgians I can find here in Buffalo first, I suppose.

Friends in DC could get Leffe Blonde quite easily, so that should be a good first try... Just make sure you get a proper glass to go with it...
