Default Official "I want to be a passenger" Thread

Hello, everyone. My name is Rachel and I am 30 years old. I have a Lotus Elise, which I love dearly, especially in the Malibu Canyons and Mulholland. Been out with a few Lambos post-Cars and Coffee/Supercar Sunday. I do just fine keeping up with the tight turns, but get on the PCH and i am miles behind. Let's face it, my 190 HP is no match for y'all, (even though the power to weight ratio isn't bad)
Um, so I don't know if this is tacky or what to ask but i think it would be really cool to ride along with someone else.

I can't wait to see what kind of responses you get to this.

I've been a huge fan of Lambos since I was a kid (I'm 33 now) and since I intend to own one eventually I'd also love to ride in one and chat with the owner to hear about their experiences with it. I'd even pay decent money for something like that.

Like you though, I was always afraid to ask thinking it would seem tacky or creepy. I owned a C5 Corvette for six years and I didn't mind giving rides to people I knew who were enthusiastic about the car but I would have had reservations about doing that for someone I only knew from a forum.

I bet you could easily get someone to trade you for a ride in your Lotus if you showed up to a car club meeting with it. People like to see how other performance cars compare to their own.

Welcome to you both! There are a lot of owners that would be more than happy to take you for a ride...as long as the kind of know you. The internet is a crazy place and no one will invite a stranger to their home and offer a ride. I strongly suggest going to a meet or cruise gathering and talk to some of the people and ask it they can take you around the block. Or if you are a regular poster here and people will let you know where the next event is and you can tag along. It is all in how you go about it. Also if you ask and they say no, just be cool about it. The more you talk to them and show that you are a decent person the better chances you have.

Thanks Detour! Yeah, I completely understand.
I'm pretty active in the car community with Supercar Sunday in Woodland Hills and Cars and Coffee in Irvine, which I attend almost every weekend. I organize drives and weekend trips for Lotuses on LotusTalk.com too. I'm a bit shy when it comes to asking for rides in other cars, so I just don't do it. But, eventually it would be cool.

awwww man, I thought this thread was going to be one of those threads like "I want to be a passenger in whatever, exotic car or machine you can think of here" threads; at which point I had this whole response talking about attaching myself to a parachute and being pulled by a top fuel dragster or even getting to copilot a rocket car, or better than both, navigating a WRC car.

Hope you get what you are lookign for, but my suggestion would be, why don't you just rent one and drive it?? I had a few friends do that during their trip to Vegas. I am sure there is somewhere down there in Southern Ca. that can accomodate. Then you can dirve it like you stole it (Make sure you get the insurance) .
