Hi guys

My name is Llewellyn. I'm from South Africa and I love lamborghini's. I had a Countach on my wall when I was a kid. I very nearly bought a used Murcielago anniversary edition, but for various reasons didn't go through with it... the main one being that Murcielagos on the market here are either accident/story cars or garage queens.

There are only 20 Murcis in the country and only 3 for sale at the moment (one with a faulty engine, one that had about ZAR800K worth of damage on it and the anniversary edition which is rev-hunting and has faulty variable intakes). I will eventually buy one new... but that is still a good few years away since the price is astronomical here (ZAR5.2M before options at last check). The temptation is always to immediately get something when you can (just barely) afford it, but I've had to get real about the situation for now... and remain a wannabe driver. I think I may very well be a Porsche 911 Turbo/GT2 driver before I am a Lambo driver.

What I do: I work in marketing for Procter & Gamble (best place to learn IMO) and I have a small IT business that does local government work which I intend to nurture and grow over time. Its early days yet, but it provides a bit of extra income. I didn't study anything remotely related to either... I am a Medical Biochemist by training... long story...

What I own currently:
I used to be a BMW man... who dabbled with Mercedes & who currently owns 2 Hondas go figure...

2007 Honda S2000 (we still get the original 2.0 9000RPM motor here with all the updates ) which I use as a daily car to work & back + some track days.
1997 Honda Ballade 180i for shopping
2009 BMW 335i (coming in January)

Previous cars:
1983 Mercedes 280SE (first car)
1994 BMW 325i
2004 Mercedes C270 CDI
2005 BMW E46 M3

Exotica I've driven:
Ferrari 360 CS
Lamborghini Murcielago manual & LP640 E-Gear
Lamborghini Gallardo manual
Porsche 911 Turbo (997) & GT3 (996)

My ideal garage (for now anyway): Verde Ithaca LP640 with white & black interior, my S2000 (Black with red interior) and a BMW 335i (metallic blue with white interior).

Looking forward to learning from the forum and eventually coming over to the dark side!

Cheers

Welcome aboard, Llewellyn (I've heard that name a lot lately, strange).

In case anyone is wondering, 5.2 Million South African Rand is $509,080 USD as of this minute.

Welcome! I like your list of cars. You have good taste.

Have you ever thought about importing a Murci? Is the cost astronomical?

Hi guys

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Unfortunately we don't have the NSX here, otherwise I would definitely be considering it. I've tried to import cars before with no luck. The issue is that we have a local motor industry (manufacturing & import+assembly) that have their claws sunk deep into the government. Grey imports are generally impounded and crushed to protect the local industry. I'll elaborate more another time but you need to get very creative when importing a car here

It's kind of like George Carlin says about pilots who welcome those on the plane to the city they are arriving in. "How can someone welcome me to a place that they just arrived at themselves?

Not that this is valuable content, but please work on yours.

You have to let out line in order to reel them in. That is my #1 rule as a mod.

My question is if 13 years old WHY NOT IN SCHOOL??
