Not hurting me, and I hope it doesn't spill over to those wise enough not to get caught up in the speculation that drove housing in the last few years. I never invested in it, directly anyway. When every Tom, Dick and Harry is flipping houses, it's way past time for a crash, not surprising to me at all.

Yes. My azz got kicked last year for asking about housing / economics on this site. At any rate, does anyone remember the old adage about 1929, the shoeshine boy, and the stock market collapse? It goes something like, "If your shoeshine boy is giving you stock tips, it's time to get out of the market".
Really, if you couldn't see this coming, you've got blinders on. I could go on and on about how there WILL be spillover effects, but not here.
I'm not suffering at all. I could see the train wreck coming for years, and have prepared myself well.

Yes, I remember that old adage well, only I heard it was the elevator boy.

I'm in the construction business. My company installs epoxy and polyurethane based flooring systems. Traditionally, so to speak, our main niche is: large production halls. Three years ago I decided to 'attack' the private market, in other words: we're offering and installing industrial floors in private houses.
That particular branche is booming like hell. 75 % is renovation (restoring existing older houses). I live in a very densly populated Northern European country, real estate prices have been sky rocketing here as well, and the prices are also stagnating. But if you are serious, there's still a lot of money to be made in construction.
If you want to see some pics, check out 'fotogalerij' at www.bvsbvba.be
What am I doing? I'm beginning to sound like Roy . Well, maybe I have some colleagues in the US (or elsewhere) that appreciate this little commercial.
