Tire gels will attract dust if the proper steps aren't taken to avoid it. Any water based dressing will eliminate the dust attraction issue you are having. After achieving the results you are after be sure to do a final wipe down of the tires to avoid slinging, they should be dry when you are done. Even if you plan on using a gel, the tires should be dry to the touch. If you overapply a silicone based dressing, or gel you will end up with very nasty tires (a lot of the population falls into that category).

The most common mistake made in this industry by pro's and diyer's alike is over usage of product. Just about every detailing product should fall under a "less is more" mantra.

Water based dressings that last and look great are.

Zaino z16 zainostore.com

303 aerospace protect (the more applications the higher shine, great protection for all rubber plastics and other surfaces) Vinyl & Rubber Care

Finish Kares #108 (actually replaces 303 in my arsenal for quite some time.) finishkareusa.com

Meguairs Hyper dressing is also very good to have around, it's the only one listed so sar that is dilutable to alter the look. At 1:1 with water its one of the highest gloss, yet still classy looking dressings out there. Trouble is, it's not very durable. it can be diluted up to 4:1

Einmann Fabrik tire dressing lasts, spreads very well and looks very impressive.Tire Dressings

What is it like Mr. Brice, being second fiddle?

What an absurd thing to say young Tyler. Your simple yet inefective attack on me also suggests that you buy into some sort of perception due to the publicity.

I am second fiddle to noone in terms of detailing. I do things my way, for myself just as any other who claim to be whatever it is they claim to be. In terms of taking very high quality pictures I am on the bottom of the totem pole. But hey, you have limited knowledge, experience and a digital slr, that makes you a modern internet master detailer right?

You have no idea who I am or what I do, or have done, so you should plan future attacks more careful.

Brian, maybe Holden feels you're highjacking his thread, or at least that is my perception. Not passing ANY judgement, but merely making a comment.

Rugger I can understand that, and that was not my intention. I was drawn in to the site by political discussion, and stumbled upon this one.

He created a thread labeled ask a pro detailer. Now anyone who washes a car for money is technically a pro I understand that. But the members who asked for product selection advice were not given suitable recomendation as far as I am concerned, which is why I interviened. Not to throw my weight around or to prove my vast knowledge of the industry to be superior to his, but to help a forum member, or anyone who is interested in proper auto care.

He called me second fiddle because of my work history with one of most publicized detailers in the country. The way this industry works now days you can spend a year or two on a detailing forum, and label yourself a master of the craft which genuine articles such as myself find very disturbing. I do hope our profession is the only one with such charades, as it's counter productive for the industry and true craftsmen as a whole. Think about it, you have so called experts who are giving advice two months after requesting common known questions in the industry? (not an attack on anyone directly, there are many guilty of this on every single car forum out there)

Many put together write ups with hundreds of pictures and consider the views and replies evidence of their professionalism.

His rash statement I assume was to suggest I was some sort of apprentice, or back up singer to my former partner. Think of how ludacris that sounds, we wash cars for a living people, there are no fiddles. Yes you have to go through thousands of detailers to find one, and yes this is a reputation ran occupation. But not once have I diagnosed an issue on a vehicle and reached for a dslr camera to fix it.

Someone asked about leather care and he gave a few suggestions without even qualifying the gentleman. One of which I would not suggest using on the particular leather he inquired about. The other being pretty complicated to use correctly. How exactly does that help this person?

I know that you have a history of this, Brian. That's why none of your posts remain on Autopia. Therefore, I'm not going to spend any more of my precious time on this matter.

In any case, all of Autopia can see you now.

None of my posts remain on Autopia because I requested they be deleted Sherlock.

I think it's funny you posted this link elsewhere, so that others can see your attempt to pass yourself off in such elite fashion.

Well said Brian, and I agree with you, you were simply offering a forum member advice pertaining to their original quarry; and I most certainly did not interpret that as a thread jack... I guess some people are a lil more sensitive than others...it's actually good to see/read different approaches and knowledge offered by different sources.

That's always been my motive, to help people care for their cars better. I spend a lot of unpaid time with clients and random people who don't even hire me discussing and demonstrating proper procedure and products that would work for them. There is never one answer to the question, but I am pretty good at profiling in the interest of pairing products with owners/cars, it's fun for me and anyone who has met me would agree this post is 100% accurate.

Tyler, you know you could have just pmd me and asked that I remove my advice. Or answer your phone so we could sort this out, as opposed to attacking me again.
