My other passion are watches. Come to think of it watches may be my obsession....its usually my birthday present to myself.

I must have 25 watches that are less than $1k...but rarely wear them unless I am in a very casual mood.

My main group
- 18k yellow gold Rolex Submariner
- 18k Rolex Prince, 2008 model
- Stainless & Gold Omega Double Eagle
- Stainless & Gold Cartier Tank Francais
- My favorite, Corum $20 Gold coin watch

im into watches, and i usualy bbuy one verry expensive watch a year... i dont wear them all.. in fact im more inclined to use one or 2 most every days..
i think ive got about 30 watches.. some are very limited adisions, others are just good looking watches.. i tend to go for the bulky ones.. like the offshoars and the big bangs, and also some pashas. i like those big diving watches..

i even have a hublo thats #25 out of #50... but there is no way i think those one million dollar watches are worth it... even if you have the money.. if its worth thats mutch it should be made from materials that come from mars or somthing..

Default Service,etc.

Thanks for the compliment on the Daytona... The Rolex recommended service interval is 5 years. Looking at my records I have had the watch 6yrs this month... and just did its first service a few months ago. So I went 5.5 yrs. With the complexity of the movement it had to go back to Switzerland for the factory to do the service. You could go with a local service in Miami or NYC, but it costs the same. Took about 4 weeks to go to Switzerland and back. And no 'loaner Rolex' in the meanwhile. The dollar/euro conversion likely isn't helping us, but it was $850 for the 'cleaning'. That was all 'routine' service; new gaskets, etc. The one up side was the fact that when it came back they had polished out even the smallest of scratches and it looked like a brand new watch. I was impressed. Enjoy the hobby!

I really enjoy a good Patek Phillippe, mostly because they are a more slender watch, and I have skinny arms and wrists. But, I'm also very interested in pocket watches, particularly antiques (I like the time period post Civil War to about 1895 - roughly when our house was built). Such precise mechanical movements have always fascinated me, especially considering the technology was first developed eons ago. Makes you realize how far we have not come as a species.
