Smile GT-R @ NY Auto Show

FYI:

I saw the GT-R for the first time live at the NY Auto show last weekend. Yeah, it's fast and for the $70K or so A LOT of bang for the buck, but pretty it ain't. I wonder where these guys went to auto design school....

Then, my 13 year old son and I wondered over to the Lambo display with 2 Mercies and the gorgeous new LP-560 Gallardo, and the difference was just .... stunning. Solely from a design perspective, the Lambos just grab your eyeballs....

Then, I ran into Richard Mok from Bergen County Lamborghini, and he graciously allowed us into the display area to sit in the cars. You never saw a 13 year old kid with a bigger grin!

I don't have my Gallardo yet, but it is definitely on the near horizon. I've had the pleasure of driving the G on a few occasions, and there is just nothing like it - and I've driven a ton of different cars.

Hard to explain, but you either love these cars... or you don't.

But I do agree - you want to go fast, get the GTR. You want class and the status that goes with it - buy a Lambo.

Most modern sports cars regardless of price lack personality and emotion, going very fast with little drama. Now get in a Lamborghini Countach. The sound, no power steering, heavy clutch and shifter. The looks, the doors, the smell. The overall effort to drive the car - that is an enjoyable driving experience. At least for me.

Lastly, the GT-R won't be winning any beauty contests.
There's a man that understands what the "exotic experience" means even the Murcielago with all it's performance is too refined for my tastes, Don't ask me about the Gallardo.

Cons:

-A lot of science, not much "soul"
-Not much History in North America
-It's Japanese (this isn't meant to be offensive, but its a con when compaired to a Italian Exotic)

My personal opinion is that a person looking for a car will not cross breed these cars when thinking of a new car purchase.

When you want an exotic, you buy an exotic. (and maybe the GTR for fun)

When you want a fast car that you can afford, you buy the GTR.
A teriyaki chicken is great in flavor, what's not to like... It will fill anyone up and have a good digestion. Some pay $2,000 meals for two for food high in trans fat and cholesterol, but it's got "it".
