The metal thing was to adjust the seats.
Here are a couple more facts from the guy that went on the tour...
-I talked to the test driver, and yes, they test the living daylights out of it. Horacio is a perfectionist, and he said Horacio is very, very serious when it comes to making each car perfect. Horacio Pagani is also a test driver, and everyone gets nervous when he comes back.
-Each Zonda is custom made, so I am assuming price aren't the same, either. I believe the base is $350K, but that roadster F with the no paint option is rumored to be around $750K +
-I was in Europe for my grad school interviews and since Milan was on my list, I decided to pay a visit. I think I called him two weeks in advance, but the other guys who came along on our trip called a week in advance. PM me if you need further details. It's not terribly expensive, either. I think he charges regular guests like 170 Euros.
-Horacio Pagani was/is a designer to begin with. Those were a part of his model toy collection that he built when he was young... (they weren't for sale). I think the Pagani store(it's really not a separate store, just a few show cases in the showroom) has so little stuff to sell (few t-shirts, few models... that's about it) that they put them in to 'spruce up' the place...
