Thumbs up Mercedes SL series

I want to get a Murci but need a daily driver. I was thinking of the Mercedes SL 55 AMG(493 V8), SL65 (493 V12) or SL 65 AMG(604 V12). The hardtop Convertible is perfect for the miserable winter months up here.

You mean to say SL600 (493 V12). The SL is a great daily driver, but only comes as automatic transmission. Get both if you have the garage space

Just from what I've heard, the SL65 is supposed to be extremely unstable and not as well-resolved as the SL55. I don't think the chassis was ready for that much horsepower.
The SL55 and SL600 are harder to choose between, especially with the identical horsepower rating. The 600 is a lot more expensive but has a ton of torque, which makes the difference.
What i hear is if you're looking for performance to almost rival (okay, at least remind you of) the Lambo, take the SL55 AMG, if it's a smoother ride you're after, go for the naturally-aspirated SL600.
Don't forget to consider the BMW 650Ci and M6 as well

Yes, twin turbos. After the Renntech ECU upgrade, you get 625 hp and 725 lb-ft of torque. It's a pretty fast car. Too bad it's only available in automatic.

Did you Renntech yours, YellowMurci? I did my SL600 and I tell you anecdotally it is fast off the line. There's wheel spin changing from 1st to 2nd at redline and WOT. 725 lb-ft of torque at about 2000rpm is huge. I would say it is as fast as my Murci, but not as stable.

Exclamation

The Rep on the phone was a dick weasle. I need a new dealership.

Anyway, so you say that the Acceleration of the SL600 AMG (604HP, sorry, Aftermarkets are a tad sketchy with my knowledge of the Marque) causes it to be less stable? I could live with a 155MPH top speed, but..When someone is trying to **** with me, which happens very often, I gotta hit it...so the gov has gotta come off (like a few peoples heads). Can anyone be a litte more descriptive? I mean, is 0-155 okay even at full throttle, then does it get all squirley and skittish(155+) or what? how is the Acceleration for each gear?

be a dick to me you lose a $130K sale!

SL600 Renntech is 625 hp and 725 lb-ft of torque. It feels as fast as my Murcie, but I feel safer in the Murcie at high speeds than my SL600 Renntech.

Oh, whoops... my mistake. I guess that automatically came to mind while think of the SL600 as a "softer" car compared to the AMG.
Sorry for the mixup..
