Default Looking for a GT or Luxury car, any recommendations

I'm looking to purchase a GT car or Luxury Car in the next few months to compliment my NSX, and i can't seem to make a decision, so hopefully you guys would be kind enough to make some recommendations. My budget is about 300k, and i'm looking for a car with elegance, road presence, sportiness, exclusiveness, and something that you don't see on a daily basis. I want a car that will serve as a status symbol. I have narrowed my options to few cars: Aston Martin Vanquish, Ferrari Superamerica, and Merc SL65. Some reason my heart leans toward the Aston. The marque just seems to have this mystique about it, and the appearance is just drop dead sexy. At the same time, I've always wanted a ferrari & the sound of the car gives me the goosebumps. And the Mercedes seems to make the most sense. Its beautiful, luxurious, practical, probably the most reliable, but its just doesn't seem to be exclusive like it used to be in the past. There as common as a honda civic in southern California. Anyone have experience owning any of these cars, and have any suggestions on what to get. Thanks in advance.

William

With 300k at your disposal, a Murcie Roadster would give you all of the features you're looking for...and then some. If I weren't interested in the Lambo....heaven forbid....I'd lean towards the Vanquish over the Ferrari and well above the Mercedes...The problem with all of the cars you've mentioned...their value new drops right out of the floor after a few months...not many cars will retain their value.

I know someone with a low mileage Vanquish here in Portland...I can hook you up for under 200k...Charcoal grey, 2100 miles...just gorgeous. If you're looking for something you won't see everyday....A Lambo will give you that hands down...If you want an awesome deal on one of those, talk to RoyToy2003 or get ahold of me and I'll put you two together...Both he and I have some contacts in the Ferrari world as well...but personally speaking, nothing beats the sexyness, the styling, the sound, and the prestige of a Lambo.

Let me start out and say I dont own any exotics. I think, If you have eliminated a murci from the choice pool, I would go for the Aston. They are by no means common, a symbol of power, and have decent performnace(although probably the worst of your choices, but still great). The one thing you might want to check into if you decide on the Aston Martin is reliability. I seem to remember reading on a board, that one owner had several problems with his. Hope I helped.

Out of the three you mentioned I would definitely go with the Aston. It really is one of the most gorgeous cars on the road (besides Lambos of course) Good luck finding a Superamerica. All of them were sold within a week after the debut. I really don't think the sl65 is the way to go. It would look extremely common as the differences between it and its lowly sl500 brother are minimal. Just my 2 cents

Who are you trying to impress with this status symbol? Do you want to impress the world ("look at me")? Your peers? Your mom?

Astons are great cars, but most people won't know what it is and what you paid for it. It is very understated. If you want to get a nice spot at the valet or impress your business associates, this is a good car. You portray the image of being conservative and exclusive in an Aston.

The SL65 is a great car, but you will be pulling up at the light with someone in a $30k C-class and they will think they have the same car as you. It is the daily driver status symbol. But since you are in California, this car is not exclusive and has no road presence. Take it off your list.

SL65 and Astons generally are ordered in understated colors because that is the image the owners try to portray.

The Superamerica is an excellent choice. It is a Ferrari and truly a status symbol. It will impress everybody because "it is a Ferrari". You won't look obnoxious with the Superamerica, so it is professional, elegant, and a status symbol. It will fit almost any situation.

Since you posted on a lambo forum, the Lamborghini is also an excellent choice. This is the car that says "look at me". The Murcieglago (especially the roadster) are very flashy and are extremely exclusive. While the SuperAmerica might be more exclusive, you just dont see lamborghinis on the road. If you want the most attention possible, for a tad over $300k, the Murci roadster is the choice. But realize you will get a lot of attention -- maybe too much attention -- this is something you may not want.

Let me know if you decide
