Default Audi R8

It's obviously not finished, and its rolling on Gallardo wheels. It's bascily going to be a Lamborghini in Audi clothes. (Kinda like the Audi S8 with the Gallardo motor)

"As for a little background on the vehicle - when the car debuted at its first auto shows over two years ago, it was a two-seater, mid-mounted 610 HP V-10 supercar. It's rumored that there haven't been many changes to that configuration for the production model. The Audi R8 is said to be released sometime in 2007, but no definite date has been set."

This isn't a full undisguised car yet. The black trim will all be painted for production, the red bar between the taillights is tape, and the distinctive aluminum side panel from the Le Mans concept will make production (you can see the outline of it on that car.) It will debut with the 420hp 4.2 V8 from the RS4, with the 5.2 Gallardo V10 from the S6/S8 with a little more power coming a year later.

Yeah, I've been naively hoping that day would never come. I guess that's why I just can't get excited about the Gallardo

Why's everyone picking on the Gallardo? That Audi looks nothing like a Gallardo. The Murci was the first Audi, why are not people comparing it to all the new Audi's comming out! Heck the Diablo is a Chrysler!

The advent of the R8 will surely mean that an uprated Gallardo is on the horizon, I would assume.

I was waiting for the new TT Roadster to come out in Sept 2007 to change mine, but if the R8 really comes out, I'll revise my plans
Any idea why the thing is registered in California ?..strange for a German 'almost secret prototype'...

Thumbs down

I don't like the way the Audi R8 turned out aesthetically. The Prototype Models were radical, but it appears to have been sissied out a tad too much for my tastes. It just looks like a "Super" TT...which is lame.
