Default rubber seal

I have this seal coming loose from my top. What's the best adhesive to use, seeing as it's coming in contact with the painted surface?

I've used 3M Super Weatherstrip Adhesive (black), part #08008 for tacking down loose pieces of weatherstrip on my coupe. In my case, a similar adhesive had been used from the factory to bond the strip to the car, but in your picture I don't see any adhesive residue. Your call, but if you apply the adhesive sparingly you shouldn't see much (if any) of it once the seal is back in place.

Dear Lamborghinisti,

Hi Raymond.

For your seal, the black 3M weather / molding seal is the way to go.

First, clean both the painted surface and rubber surface with 3M wax/tar remover ( blue spray can - walmart )

I'm sure you can see a line where the rubber seal sat on the painted surface. Lay down some masking tape 1/16" below the seated surface. ( so glue is slightly below the rubber, not flush, so it won't ooze out.

After masking tape, use 3M wax remover on cloth and rub surfaces. Apply black 3M sealant in a thin single layer on both sides. Wait for slight surface tack and press down. ( You get one chance to do it right or you will have to start over )

When applying glue, spread fast with finger. If you wait or do it too slowly, the glue will start to "skin"

Good luck....easy job...just take your time.

Shamile

A Diablo is like a hot tall thin blonde. Sooo seductive, you just keep putting up with her crap. Buying her high-heels or headers, you know she costs you a fortune. But riding her....oh soooo good!
