Default Please help me change my Fuel Filters

Please help me change my Fuel Filters.

Do I have the correct parts? What I have are 2 cylinders that slide in to the side of the Fuel Tank. I also see 2 round brass colored objects that run to the filters or what I believe is the filters. What are the brass colored objects?

I plan to drain the gas. Then flush it with 2 gallons. Then change the filters.

Any help is appreciated.

If this is on an early Diablo, then yes part # 6229580 is correct for the in-tank, pre filters (at least for my '93). The brass colored objects in your last 2 pictures appear to be the external pre filters between the tank and the fuel pumps. There are also filters between the fuel pumps and the fuel rail. Seems like overkill, but better than plugging an injector I guess.

On MY 97-98 there are two each side. Right before the fuel pumps, and larger ones before the rails. These are hard to get to, and are on top of the fuel tank. Looks like the bass colored things ARE the filters.

After looking here. 1991-1993 Lamborghini Diablo 2WD Fuel System 3 TAV: 62.02.00

You have three filters, each side. #32, looks like it's inside the tank. #28, #11.

Did either of you guys actually replace the 2 large filters that are before the fuel rails? These are the 2 after the fuel pumps, and are located above the tank and right below the coolant expansion tank. Seems like a person would need 5' arms made of rubber to actually get to the fittings and/or hose clamps. I'm curious as to the best way to get at them, i.e. from above, or by going through the rear wheel well area after removing the fender liner?

You are in luck that I have done it, or unlucky that your thinking of doing it. It's a bitch!

First you'll have to remove the expansion tank. After you get the obvious clamps, and hose disconnected there's a large one thats connected behind it, expose and just cut it, you'll have to lengthen it just a little for re-installation.

The best way to reach the filters is to cover the drivers side fenders with blankets, and get a large foam pad to lay over the engine to protect everything, this will serve as your bed because your going to have to lay on your stomach across the fender and engine so you can get your hands straight in the compartment to work. Get the picture? From there, just disconnect hoses and clamps that hold down the filters.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I tried the wheel well access, no luck.

Geez, I was afraid of that. Hey, it's the final filter of the 3, so it's probably the cleanest of them all. Thanks for the info, and I'll let you know if I tackle it.
