Default need help bad !!!!!!!!!!

i own a 97 diablo sv that was originally a canadian car . i live in ny . the problem is that the car does not have an obd 2 hook up being a canadian car. now in ny the only way you can inspect your car by law is through the obd hookup . should this car have had it being impoted into the us in order to pass us standards and should i look for the dealer "non-lambo , exoctic" to complain or if this is something i have to install my self now , how can i obtain the correct hookup/harness for the car . no one seems to know or can/wants to help me as far as repair shops . my cars inspection is way over due and i need to get this taken care of asap . my question is should this have been put in before coming to the us or do i have to install this myself and where the hell do i find this cause no one seems to know !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks , any help is greatly appreciated . joe

Default Diablo inspection

I don't know about NY....but in New Jersey, you can get a special usage tag that limits the miles you can drive the car, but allows you to skip the inspection. I don't know how many miles you do a year....and I don't think there is an age requirement . Again, I don't know if NY has a similiar program.

If the car came to the USA USED then it is not required to have had the upgrade...if NEW, Which I doubt, then it should have been done by the authorized Lamborghini dealer.

To get the harness you speak of call these people....

I hate to ask dumb questions but are you sure it does not have an OBDII connector? The wiring diagram on my 99 suggests its there for all markets?

That can't be right. The ABS and airbag controllers are gotten to via the OBDII connector and so that covers 1998 at least....

PS I stumbled onto two recalls re '97's

NHTSA Safety Recalls:
Important: The following recalls were issued for the 1997 LAMBORGHINI DIABLO VT by the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Recall date: 02-18-1998
Units potentially affected: 44
NHTSA campaign number: 98V030000
Defective part or component: STRUCTURE: DOOR ASSEMBLY: LATCHES AND LOCKS

Description: Vehicle Description: Passenger vehicles. The automatic window retractor system, which allows the vehicle door(s) to open, will remain in the closed position. If this occurs, the vehicle occupant would not be able to exit (or enter) the vehicle in the event of a vehicle crash or fire. Dealers will inspect the window system and, if necessary, will replace the system with the new, modified version of the micro switch and latch assembly.

Recall date: 07-17-1998
Units potentially affected: 63
NHTSA campaign number: 98V162000
Defective part or component: STRUCTURE: BODY ROOF: CONVERTIBLE TOP

Description: Vehicle Description: Passenger vehicles equipped with air bags. A Supplementary Rubber Windshield Header Protector to be installed by the vehicle owner onto the windshield header when driving with the vehicle's top removed was omitted. Injury to unbelted occupants could occur if the vehicle's top is removed and the vehicle is involved in a crash. Dealers will replace the Windshield Header Rail Trim Panel and provide the owner with the missing Supplemental Rubber Windshield Header Rail Protector.
