Default need help 94 vt loss of power 1/2 engine?

i have a 94 diablo vt,took it out early morning no prob was driving strong,was in heavy traffic for 20 mins,engine temp was normal 90 c and than all of the sudden my idle dropped ck eng light left came on,and i lost power and 1/2 side is working,i smell alot of gas comming out of exhaust pipe.is it possible coil went out,if so is it common for coils and does napa have them avaialble for a 94 vt,any help will be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you are running on one bank of cylinders only. It is surprising how smooth these engines will run this way, although slower idle and power loss as you describe.

As there is fuel in the exhaust, I would check the ignition side of things first. Coils, dist cap and rotor etc.

Easy to check if a coil has gone.
Plug the left coil into the right, and vice versa. If you lose power in the other bank, you know its a bad coil.
Napa Auto Parts has the Jaguar Coils which are a direct replacement. You may have to order them which takes a couple days.

well i got the nap coil,totally diffrent than mine ,napa has a 4 pin connector,mine has a indivudal pin connectors,it states magnet marelli aei 500c,where can i find this ive been told it could be used from fiats,any help please

when we removed it it has a deep crack on it.i can not seem to find the correct one,a friend checked with ferrari states same one used for a 84-85 412,and some say fiats ,having a hard time

i checked lambo stuff and they have the part # listed and it comes out for a 1990 lmoo2.not sure why someone installed lm002 coils on my 94 vt and just not replaced with correct ones.

installed a used coil and it worked for 2 minutes,than switched coils to other side and same problem,than switched modules and problem moved to right to left,is there an aftermarket ignition module

The Jaguar XJS 1989-1995 coils are the same as the Diablo


1989-1995 Jaguar XJS - OE Service Ignition Coil
