Nothing about the MSD but the normal ignition box, I didn't want to start a new thread for this...

The original MM Ignition Box consist of 4 parts:
1) a voltage converter which increases voltage to 250V
2) a rectifier and condenser part
3) a controlled diode which uses the coil for an outlet of 16 to 25KV
4) a rev limiter set at 7800rpm

If you look at the box you can see on top the rev limiter on the left and next to it the voltage converter, below the box itself:

As for the airpump, it disconnects at 3000rpm.

All infos can be found in Marc Borel's Book "Countach"

I still have to sort out the problems another LP500s in Sofia has with the MSD 7.
QV and 25th are no problem, but they must have changed the tacho on the lp500s from 1984 on. Perhaps it would be necessary to replace the tacho circuit on older cars like yours to get it working with the MSD-Box' Signal.

@Bjoern
forget what the MSD tech says, I just talked with Rico of www.valtellina-automobili.com for more than 3 hours.
He said with this coil you will burn down your cap and rotor in a few tousand miles, he said the Box itself brings the huge difference, no matter of the coil, even the Blaster 2 would be enough. To use more current just decrease live of the plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor with no beneficial aspect.

The Owner of the 25th Anni I installed my box on sunday confirmed yesterday that there is no difference between the SS blaster and the HVC 8251.
So why should I go the dangerous way and burning all down, because some tech freaks at MSD tell it's not dangerous?
MSD produces Boxes for dragster with exotic mixtures and 14:1 compression, there you need that amount of energy, but that's drag racing and racing in common, not driving on the road for 10 tousands of miles.
Raymond,
I have now through a friend in the US got myself a new MSD V12 ignition unit and a new Blaster SS 8207 coil. I took your advice and went for the Blaster coil instead. I intend to fit the system on my 86 FI Countach QV shortly and wonder if you can help me with the wiring details as you has done this before?

Hi Bjoern,

yes I can help you, I will PN you the details.

BTW the tacho troubles for the LP500s are sorted out, it runs perfect.
I'm the ONLY one who has successfully installed the MSD 7 on the pre QV Countach! Not even Burtoni sells them

Remember the complete unit, ready to install is $1250 which is half the price of what V12-Engineering is billing you

One ignition is the Marine type which is for a Lambo Marine engine, 9 litre with 6 webers, wow what a engine

Hi Raymond,
Since you have solved the problem for the early LP500S, would you please let Marcel have one of your magic boxes so he can install it on Tahiti while he's working on it.
Please consider this as a formal P.O. I'll pay you back in a couple of days when I see you in CH.
Thanks a lot

Marcel is still working on the QV garage queen, I will visit him and produce a mounting plate for the LP5000s soon, but it makes sense to wait till he finished the engine before installing it, we don't want to start the engine too much at the moment.

That's what I meant...when the engine is back in the car and overhauled as new ( ), he can install the box as a final touch ), and fine tune with the new ignition box on.

OK fellows, within one week I should get a new delivery of 5 boxes, one is reserved for IAN, one for Eric and one for a german car.
2 are still available, I think Herck wanted also one.
