Driving along, just after a fastrun down a dual carriagway. Put foot on clutch, felt a slight weakness, put put on clutch again, rock solid no movement at all.
Looking under car there is a small amout of clutch fluid comming from cylyinder and the operating rod appears to be fully extended. Any ideas ? Are new cylinders available ? appreciate any help. ![]() |

Clutch slave cylinder, no problem...
1. can be overhouled for little money if only the joint is broken 2. it's from an Alfa 33, costs about 50 Euro We had the same problem in Italy with a Diablo SV, finally the owner drove home without clutch.

I payed 20 euros to have mine of the Jalpa overhouled, the new Alfa 33 should be available at part dealers.
Anyway the work is to get this thing out and reinstall it, it's not a matter of costs.

I hope it is just the cylinder that needs rebuilding. I had a very simailar situation happen to me in my 1984 Countach, ELA12706 (yes the one after yours Terry). Well long story short the throw out bearing failed resulting in an major project.
Now for the advice part, get the car on a lift and by all means rebuild the slave cylinder its cheap and you will have to do it anyways, hopefully after it is re-installed you will be fine. If not you can do a visual inspection, there is a hole in the bottom of the bell housing when looking in this area you can see the clutch, pressure plate and the throughout bearing. Carefully look these components over, in my case you could see where the clutch fork pulled right through the throw out bearing housing. I know of two other 1984 model year Countaches that this has happened to, hopefully this will not be the third one. Best of Luck Sicerely Vic ![]() Last edited by Redlambo : 09-20-2005 at 10:05 AM. |

Hi Vic,
I have a feeling mine is the same. After releasing the slave the actuating rod now moves freely about three inches, so something else is wrong in there. I am going to look at it on Thursday, thank goodness I have a lift in my garage. ![]() |

Terry,
yesterday I went through my stock and even found a 2V clutch cylinder... Sometimes I really wonder how many parts I have collected so far.
