I know that the newer version breaks very often but is softer to clutch, a friend with a 1999 Diablo had a larger slave installed and now the clutch is very smooth to operate.

Was it a Lambo Slave unit or something else? Looking at the picture, it appears that the 1992 pushes the lever "clockwise" and the newer model pulls the lever to the right or "counter clockwise". is this correct? So would it require me to change out more parts?

There is no Lamborghini Clutch cylinder, there was never one, it comes all from Lancia, Alfa, Fiat etc... I can ask my mechanic what he installed in that SV.

Also you know in what direction the lever goes when the clutch is pushed in on the later models?

It has to be left, to the right is not enough room... on the picture yopu posted the clutch is not pushed, you can see from the rubber seal and the blank metal.
The clutch itself was not changed, only the cylinder and lever to push. He only changed the old cylinder against the new one and greased everything with copper grease. The clutch cylinder is from the Alfa 33 (like on the Countach).
