Unhappy Idle surges(1100 rpm)

Well here it is 2001 Diablo V-12 with twin screws(superchargers) Has 4,000 miles and at idle it surges up and down, between 1100 and 1400 rpm,I looked for air leaks,no leaks found,I did however adjust the tpc sensor on the right side throttle body and also lower the idle by means of idle screws on each throttle body(evenly,1/2 turn out each)this all did help but it still seams to idle high(1100 rpm)is this the normal rpm @ idle, note the surging did stop for now???any help would be great, also were can I find a good shop manual for the Diablo. Thanks Austin

On a correct set up, the computers want the idle to be around 1130 – 1180 revs. If the idle is being adjusted up and down by the carter motor, then its the computers running their startup routine which should only last a few minutes max.

Odds are the TPS is not set properly.

The TPS is set after getting the idle adjusted right. The idle is set after getting the car hot (both fans running) and then fully closing and then open the two by pass screws trying to get the RPMs correct and balanced (map sensor values).

The TPS needs to be set via an output reading from the LDAS software. I don't know how you do this accurately without the software. While I have seen this tried via resistance measurements, you really want to know what value the LIE's are calculating.

Dear Lamborghinisti,

You should not need to use the throttle.

I just came back from a trip to GA. It was 31 degrees in the morning. The car (97.5 Roadster ) was outside the whole night. The windshield was covered in frost. It started just fine but took awhile to warm up with the carter motor doing it's ballet with the engine (up, down etc.)

Getting the doors to stay up was tougher. In FL, it's not an issue

I think the LDAS software is a dealer only item. (don't quote me ! )

A Diablo is like a hot tall thin blonde. Sooo seductive, you just keep putting up with her crap. Buying her high-heels or headers, you know she costs you a fortune. But riding her....oh soooo good!

Hey, while we're on the subject... Has anybody here ever considered this, or do they know any Lambo owner that uses it. I own something called Scantool, and it's real handy to use on cars, but this would enable me to find and fix any bug my Lambo may have. I know the dealer uses it, but is it useful for a private owner.
