Default emergency hood release

My hood on the Diablo is stuck closed on the drivers side. The passenger side is fine, its released.

I tried using the emergency hood release in the tire well, but am unsure how much pressure and in what direction to apply. Any trick to releasing the hood?

Thanks all.

Try pushing it down, the hood, at both latch points, you will need a helper...then while pushed down try the standard releas first...on the e release you pull straight down, all the pressure you want, it is cable and will not break...

Quite common this happens...normally means the rubber stop saftey in the rear of the hinge mount has backed down to far. You can adjust it easy just turn it counter clockwise to raise it a bit...

Also, when you use the latch in the doorwell, you should hear it click twice

Oh, and don't use too much pressure on the latch in the doorwell, as those are plastic and prone to breaking.

Roy, did it your way, it worked once, shut it, and now it wont release again.

frustrating.

Also make sure you are on really flat street or driveway, a little off will flex the car wrong..

Once you get it open again, consider lubricating the latch mechanisms. I had the same problem on my CT and it was driving me nuts. It would work one time and then fail the next. A product that I have found to be worth it's weight in gold in this type of situation is called "red grease" in an aerosol can that I purchased from Curtis Industries. Sprays out like a medium oil and then congeals into a grease thickness. It is aluminum based and is water and pressure resistant. I don't know if Curtis is still around, but CRC and some others also carry this.

As a testament to it's usefulness, it has cured all the problems of lubrication failure in my lawn mower here in the "WET" Pacific Northwest. It also cured my hood hinge problems on my offroad J-series Jeep. Cured door hing binding on numerous vehicles. It's great stuff and virtually lasts forever. Tty it, you'll like it!!
