so the removal is done.
I had to remove the lower test pipe to get it out.
I arced one time, even with the disconnect. I think I am gong to disconnect the battery for the installation.

with a small arcing, how will I know if any relays were affected?
I didnt smell anything.

I was worried about that. Disconnecting from the battery is always best. I am sure you are fine if it were just a quick spark and not a couple seconds of arcing.

Well, here is the whole story now that the day is done.
I thought, based on the obvious signs of a depleting new battery (12 volts with lights and AC on), that my alternator was going. My previous battery was not holding a charge.

So, after disconnecting the alternator, the lower test pipe, I wedged it out.
I had it tested. What? 14.5. Its fine.

I returned the alternator to the proper place and connected everything.

At least I know how to do it.

Is that the braille battery? If so what do you think of it now? So the alternator puts out 14.5 unloaded, but around 12 with a load on it?

Yes, the alt puts out 12 fully loaded. Maybe a smidge more.

I switched out the Braille because I thought it was the battery and I replaced it with the RedTop.

Funny thing is, I tested the Braille, and its at 12.8 after sitting for two days( and a year old), the Red Top was 12.5 fresh from the store.

Go figure.

I don't recal the number of bolts, though I know it was at least 2 and no more than 3

Also for those talking about red cell batteries, I had replaced mine with a red cell before replacing my alternator and eventually it went dead after a year and I was unable to recharge it. I brought it back to the official red cell distributer in San Jose, and he pointed out that this is not the best choice in a battery for a Lambo. Note: they get a lot of requests for this battery from Lambo owners due to postings on sites like these. The reason being is that once its discharged deeply, it can be very difficult to get it recharged. And if you are ever away from home and this happens, you can have real difficulties getting it jump started. His recommendation was using a Yellow Cell instead. Hope this helps.
