When I purchased my car it was running a little odd and would set check engine lights a lot. After looking at some stuff I found my phase sensors were out by about 90 degrees and the car ran. I configured them in many different ways just to see what it would do for my check engine lights, sometimes reversing the pickups. some configs. would run and some wouldn't. So, I would say it is possible.

as you look at the sensors from the rear of the car, looking forward the top one controls bank 7 to 12 and the bottom one controls bank 1 to 6.
The yellow plug contols banks 7 to 12, the white 1 to 6. So hook up the top sensor to the yellow plug, the bottom one to the white. to set the sensors in time, jack the car up and put the flywheel 30 degrees before tdc. There is a dimple drilled in the flywheel 30 degrees before tdc. when this is lined up. You can see this through a hole in the bell housing under the car. Once this is lined up the pointer on the phase sensor should be lined up with the lower (1-6) sensor. Continue on to tdc on the flywheel and the pointer should be directly between the two pickups on the phase sensor. I checked my old notes and found that when I purchased my car they had them reversed and had the pointer at the lower one at tdc. completely screwed up, but the car ran. dave |

A little late but have just picked up on your ineresting discussion about phase sensors. Thought it might be interesting to mention that on my 99 Diablo the top sensor is white ie 1-6 cylinders and the bottom one is yellow ie 7-12.

I changed my phase sensors around, and it runs, not as good but it does run. So if they are backwards, it really runs like crap. Biggles, after time it gets hard to see if the correct color is still hooked up right. |
