Default [DIABLO] Installing a Rear-View Camera

Hi all,

Can anyone tell me how to install a rear-view camera on my 1992 Diablo?
Especially i'd like to know how to route the cable from the camera to the main unit, and where to get a speed signal for the GPS unit i'll be using...

So the rear end appears to be somewhat bigger than expected. Happens all the time

Haha no that's not the problem... Reversing about 30m (100ft) into my garage, with a brick wall on one side, and parked cars on the other, and only just over 2m to drive in, just takes too long and is tough on my clutch...

There are some cameras out that actually send a WIRELESS signal from the camera unit to the video display. Each unit only has to be hard wired to a power supply ( one at the back of the car and one at the dash).

They work great in the Countach. I angled mine to the right a bit so that I can see cars coming into my "blind spot".

I will try to get the name of the manufacturer for you.

Thanks 12097, though I already have a Pioneer AVIC-X1R unit with Pioneer camera ready for the job

Default wiring for camera

hi simonsays

why not follow the route of the main wiring loom.

it would go under the dash from the centre / stereo and then down past the passenger side kick panel and then under and along the passenger side sill (inside the car and behind the fiberglass floor pan. if you drill out the rivets were the fibreglass floor pan is fastened to the passenger side sill you will see the main loom and be able to feed your wiring down and along with it. it may be easier to remove the seat for access.

this will get you back as far as the ecu's. from here the loom goes through the rubber grommet on the side panel and into the area behind the passenger lower sill (near fuel pumps) and up to the top of the fuel tank.

from here, there are plenty of options to get it to the rear of the car.

from the ecu's to the top of the fuel tank, best access is to remove the side sill or remove the rear wheel and the front inner guard.

i would stay away from trying to route your cable down the centre tunnel as when you get to the engine bay you will have to route it too close to the gearbox / engine.

it should be an easy weekender.

matt
