Default Countach Starter remove

The way that start is located on Countach is not ideal in terms of heat, and many of us know starts and heat don't work so well:

Lamborghini maintenance manual (for 25th) says just take out mufflers, exhaust manifolds on left side and basicly lift starter up between chassis and valve cover, yeh right...

nope, let's go downside

In my version take out rear left suspension:
Very easy if you keep record all of the washers and you have compleate on other side if you don't remember how many washers was there. This is very good oportunity to service your "uniball" joints, just clean them and press in new grease and seal with new gasget.

Take out most of lower aluminimun plates, just drill out rivets and take out fueltank (no fuel in it, of course...) This is also very good oportunity to change fuel lines and check fuel tank for leaks (fueltank is very thin aluminium, I made new ones)

After you take out all aluminium plates it should look like this:

Yes I know it's not clean...

Undo exhaust manifolds and remove moffler(s), if necessacry remove oil dipstick. move manifolds so that you have room to oparate.

Here is the bad thing; you have to cut "angle iron" free from it's welding point, but it only holds inner fender front plate and can be very easily weld back in place.

And there you go! one starter:

i think it is the same unit as the LM 002

Chad or someone here posted pics of a starter that replace it and is 2x smaller and lighter

i have seen some putting a protection to insulate it from exhaust heat and it should worck better

I think you missunderstood, the starter cannot be replaced with a MSD part, Mikael has already my Ignition box, Chad experimented with a smaller starter, I don't know the state of his project.
The other way to remove the starter is you pull both headers and then take it out where the waterpump is.

I will go through all options and try to find smaller starter, I will also see if it's possible to machine one to fit.
Heatsheald have to be made; isulate manifolds, isulate strarter or heat sheald like there suppose to be.

You all should look that the cable that comes to starter is in good condition. Mine was starting wear through isolation at the point where it goes near fuel pumps

There is also issues on cable from charger to battery, mine was wearing through isulation to chassis, behind oil filter, there is very sharp plate welded in chassis. We don't want our cars starting to weld it self...

That's a pretty cool exhaust. Did you make it? What mufflers did you use?

5000S on motorway

Mufflers are normal end silensers what kids swap on back of their Honda, Tuning stuff, but it's the other way around, because it was easier to weld.

Starter is not yet finished, but Countach starter is some collection of parts

Here is what Bosch mechanic told:

Drive gear is from Scania (Truck manufacturer from Sweden), apparently they use same toothing in their products.
Rest starter parts are normal Mercedes Stuff.
