Default code 3.........then code 2

I was going to take a little father's day drive today, but when I started the car I threw a code 3 on the left. I cycled the key to make sure. Yup, code
3.
I then started the car, watched the smoke rush out of the tail pipe. Looked rich to me. Looked at the code again, and it had switched to code two on the same bank (left). My idle had also dropped to 800rpms. When ever I would gas it, the engine would almost die and then come backup to 800. My usual idle is 1100 dead on.

I went to Napa, picked up a o2 sensor with a special o2 socket. I tried as much as a could to remve that sensor without any success.

I tried for two hours just trying to get the sensor loose. No can do. Was not going to budge. From the side, and rear I tried. Nope, no success.

Any secret recipe to loosening this stupid sensor?

while I had the rear cover off, I removed the wing so it wasnt a total loss. But, It would have been nice to drive today.

Is it rusted in there? If so, let some liquid wrench soak into it a while.

I dont know if its rusted in there, but I have tried every tool under the sun to get this thing out, and I am superfrustrated.

Will liquid wrench really work?

Won't hurt. You could also try heating the area around it with a propane torch while applying pressure. Liquid wrench is SUPER FLAMMABLE though, so can't do both.

I applied the liquid wrench.....tapped the area, and reappied the liquid wrench.

Tomoorow, I will see if it did anything.

What should I be removing to make this more accessable?

My first attempt was not removing anything and trying the removal from up above.
Fail

My nest attempt was removing the decklid, the heatshield, and trying from the back.
Fail

Should I be removing the cats and exhaust?

The Y-pipe that the sensor sits in?

This really a bigger pain than I thought. My whole Father's day was spent doing this with no reward.

Raymondo, guide me through so I can feel good about this and not take it to a mechanic.

I did it on my SV so there might be a little difference, but you shouldn't have to remove anything else. Here's another idea. Get a small cold chisel. lay it on the flat side of the nut, then with a hammer gouge out a divit that you can lay the chisel in and then hit with the hammer to break it loose.

I just changed mine recently and had the same problem.
I bought a set of those crows feet that go on the end of a ratchet. I used a 400mm extension and 19mm crows foot (if I remember). That was for the right side. The left side I had to get from underneath the car with a normal spanner. I disconnected the plugs before I started to undo the sensors.
Your auto shop or hardware store should have those crows feet.
The crows feet are effectively the opened end part of a spanner with a square hole in it to put your ratchet.
Hope this helps mate.

well, the liquid wrench helped a lot. I removed the sensor, replaced, and at the same time replaced the rotor and cap.
My car runs worse. I gave up...its in the shop.

I suck
