Default Ceramic Coating

Hi All

I'm getting my headers (or if you are in the UK Exhaust manifolds!) done next week. The company I'm going to use put one coat on the inside and two on the outside.
Choice of colours: matt black or silver.

For those of you in the UK and would like this done, have a look at:

http://www.camcoat.u-net.com/index.htm

I hope this helps someone

Regards

Ian

Thanks
Hazim

Default Cerramic Coating

Hi

I am no expert in this field!

But here's my thoughts.....

A lot of companys offer 1 coat on the inside, and 1 coat on the outside.
I'm sure this works well - but to me, one coat on the inside and TWO on the outside sounds much better!!

I was told by the "ceramic coating experts" that all of the Ultima owners are having this done - some of them "claim" that they have lost over 100 degrees
from under the hood (the bonnet if you are from the UK!!) after having the exhaust coated.

If anyone out there has already had this process done - I would be very keen
to know if it helped reduce heat.

By the way - the UK based company charges £400 GBP to do all 4 exhaust headers (manifolds if you are of UK persuasion!).

I hope this helps

Regards

Ian

Default Ceramic coating

The shields are there to help keep the heat in - so in the ideal world the answer would be yes. However, I'm not sure once you have removed them that you will get them back on so that thet look good!!??

Has anyone else on here removed these shieldsand got them back on again?

My headers will be off for ceramic coating within the next couple of weeks - I will post some pics when they are done.

Regards

Ian

The aluminum shields provide better thermal isolation than the coating (several mm of still air vs. a fraction of a mm ceramic), so keep them on. Some (most?) ceramic coatings can be applied on top of the shields as well as inside the tubes.

Here are before and after pictures of my Jalpa headers (and other stuff):
