Default Brake Question

The brakes on my SV have average travel in the pedal with a little spongy feel before they grab. I'd call them normal. On the VT there is less travel and they are as hard as a brick. What's the difference, or why the difference, and is one better than the other?

I must say, on my 1992 Diablo, the brakes are really hard like a brick too, very little feel to them... Scares me a lot... especially without ABS...

There are a lot of differences between your 97.5 VT and 98 SV brakes.
For one thing you have 13" one piece front rotors on your VT and your SV has 14" 2 piece front rotors.2 piece rotors are lighter than one piece rotors because 2 piece rotors have aluminum center hats.

Your 14" rotors ,eventhough they are bigger than 13'' rotors, are about 3-5 lbs lighter.
That translates into less unsprung weight and less rotating mass.

Another reason is your SV's caliper's pistons are bigger than your VT.

The braking system on the SV has a more powerful pump than your VT.VT maxes out so it feels like a brick whereas the SV has more to go.

All 98 Diablos have all these upgrades like the SV.

We have had a lot of customers not being happy with their brakes and that's why we came up with a brake upgrade for 91-97 Diablos.

It depends what year diablo you have and if you want to stay with 17'' rims.

With 17" rims, you can only go with 2 piece 13" rotors.

If you have upgraded your wheels to 18",then you can go with 14" 2 piece rotors.

For 91-93 Diablo customers,we can upgrade their calipers to brembo calipers and they fit under 17" rims.

And what about the brake pedal feel? Do you also change the brake master cylinder?
