Default Ayanami/Eric's LP500s state?

Eric, what are you up to ? The Tahiti Blue didn't explode I hope ? Raymond was taking care of the car I gathered. I'm curious and worried.

Eric is in France, his Tahiti is making progress. Will be back on the road in 3 weeks lately when the problem is as expected.

Hi everyone,
Tahiti is still being overhauled. We just received the head gaskets and, as Raymond says, she should be ready soon. I'm leaving for Houston on May 22 or 23. Not sure I'll have the chance to drive the first 1500km before re-check and final torquing before that...If not, I'll try to be back before the end of the Summer..perfect time for a ride.
Anyway, the cylinder heads have beed checked and pressure tested, but were alright. It seems the main problem was an O'ring with the wrong diameter and probably the wrong materiel on the oil circuit between the main block and the right cylinder head. The oil was leaking from this joint into the water circuit just next to it. I found pictures from 1996, and it seems it was already leaking at that time...
Marcel has opened the main oil box under the block to make sure everything was well where it should be. It seems that he found some dirt inside, but hopefully nothing serious.
Raymond should install one of his magic ignition box this week, and that would be the final touch.
See..the best hands are taking care of the car, and everything should be alright soon, so don't be to worried Jef..just patient

Now we have one from Italy and one from victor reintz, we would like to have both from victor reintz since this company is one of the best gasket maker world wide.
But first Marcel will separate the block from the oil sump and check the rod and main bearings.

here in italy seems not too difficult to find head gasket for CT
i saw some 4000 and 5000s for sale in last old timer events i have been , probably not factory parts
really could not think lambo dosn't support them anymore,
you are right it is a shame

p.s. Raymond, did you have the chance to talk to previous owners of my car?
i am still looking for some things

As I said the factory was not able to provide 2 gaskets...

We got one from the factory and one from Rene Richner of partscollector.com which was produced by victor reintz. No we asked to get a second reintz gasket since the thickness differs.

I haven't seen Heinz and Priska for 3 years now...

Good news for Eric and his Tahiti-Girl, Marcel separated the block and had a look into the rod an main bearings, everything is OK.
He cleans now the oil sump and screws the engine together again, pooh, after my other colleague of the swiss club had sand in the block that is a good calming diagnose.

And his ignition box is ready to be installed

Old:

New (meanwhile wired)

Will be installed on Friday.

Well...keep the champagne in the fridge for now...
There is actually sand and metal particules all over the lower part of the engine. The crankshaft has to be re-machined, balanced and re-aligned, all bearings have to be changed, and we now have to check and measure everything we possibly can measure on the cylinders and pistons.
Looking at the bright side of this mess, except the crankshaft, the pistons and a few other minor elements of the engine, everything is fine ! ...I love this car !
Pumps, cylinder heads, springs, valves, carbs, etc have been checked, cleaned and are back to a as-new condition...Another few months, and some more big $$, and this thing will be running like a Swiss watch
Hopefully, I'll be back from Houston before it snows again in Europe...

Sometimes it snows in July and even August...

When Marcel opened the first bearing all showed to be OK, but then he found the sand in one of the oil lines.
Good luck he did since with these bearings the engine could have run 1000-2000Km and then had the big bang

It looks really bad...
