6.0 Quicksilver Exhaust System
I installed a Quicksilver exhaust system over the holiday weekend. I replaced the stock muffler with the crossover tubes, and the secondary cats with silencers. See photos.
After researching exhaust systems for a few weeks, I decided on a Larini system.
When I called the USA distributor, I was told they do not rep the manufacturer anymore because of quality issues.
I also researched the Kreissieg, Capristo, and Tubi systems, but could not get consistent information and opinions. And besides, aside from the Tubi, they all look so complex. I find it hard to believe that when it comes to exhausting an engine, more is better.
Anyway, it sounds great, and it's not too loud. And it's so much lighter then the stock setup. It looks real good also. Too bad you can't see it with the heat shield on. I also noticed that there seems to be less reverberation from inside the car. It may have something to do with me even-ing up the clearance on the primary cats. They really jam them in there. In fact, I don't think the engine can move on the mounts freely enough without pressing on the cats and heatshield against the frame.
As for the quality... it was crappy. Good thing I own a fabrication shop!
I had to pull a dent from one of the silencers. I also had to cut and reweld the flairs that connect on the engine side. While I had it in the fixture I made from the stock system, I also added a set of supports to utilize the rear muffler shock mounts. I was afraid the tail pipes would wobble without support from these.
We are kicking the idea around at our shop of building a titanium version of this system. I would like to remove the primary cats and put them in the extra space the stock system took up. We can replace them aftermarket ones or try to make titanium cased ones.
