Default What Type of Coolant Can I Use ?

- 2004 Lamborghini Gallardo

What type of coolant can I use ? The manual says the system is filled for life but my expansion tank is dry. Does anyone know if I can use something like Prestone? Prestone says it can be mixed with "ANY" color antifreeze. I am being impatiant and want to run the car today and not wait for my dealer to re-open.
Thanks.

Normally antifreeze liquid is to be replaced every 2nd-3rd year due to corrosion. Maybe yours is different...

Should be noted in the owners manual, if not use antifreeze for aluminium engines, not the normal one.

Default Thanks for the replies....

If anyone can be specific on brand type I would appreciate it. I am sitting here looking at a new bottle of Prestone which indicates it is safe for all makes and models and for aluuminum engines. In addition, it says I can mix it with any color antifreeze. I had a Ferrari a number of years ago and I can't remember putting anything special in the car. For some reason my owners manual on this Gallardo does not indicate anything other than to "consult the dealer". Gosh, its just antifreeze. Your additional thoughts and comments are appreciated. Thanks.

Suggest checking your car manual firsthand, or use destilled and de-ionized water. It's also depending on how much fluid you've lost. Maybe you have to add antifreeze as per manual. And somewhere there might be a small leaque..."If there's a problem, solve it first".

Default Hey...I Took A Shot What Can I Say...

Well, I added the Prestone that was for aluminum engines and acceptable for all makes, models and colors of antifreeze. I have a service appointment for Wednesday and the car is under warranty. If its the wrong stuff, let them flush it and drain it. For now, I am on the road and can drive the car this holiday weekend ! Yeaah ! Thanks for all the replies !

Default Coolant for Gallardo

Steve,

I'm in Phoenix also. I have an '05 Gallardo. The coolant that Scottsdale Lamborghini uses is BMW coolant, bluish in color......same as in your car.
I got mine from the BMW dealer for about $19.00 gallon, if I remember correctly. Scottsdale Lamborghini was closed at the time. My overflow reservoir was pretty low also. I used distilled water at first, but then decided on coolant. The manual talks about the blue-colored coolant. I was worried about using Prestone (Yellow/Green) so I called Scottsdale Lamborghini and they told me about the BMW coolant.

Jeff

By the way, what color G do you have?
