Does anyone know the warning signs of when the clutch is beginning to go?
When it is cold outside, mine seems to slip more for the first 5 minutes, than it did 2 months ago when I bought it--of course, it was warmer then too... |

temp should not matter. usually unwarmed vehicle has rougher idling and less responsive throttle. This is why your clutch might seem dull in the cold start. the best way to test the slipping of your clutch is to drive slow on the first gear up to 5-6k rpm. Then quickly shift to third and full throttle at the same time. if your rpm revs up freely without the vehicle accelerating in correspondence, the clutch is definitely slipping. Otherwise, if the rpm just drops dead even with full throttle on abrust shifting to third from first gear, your clutch is working perfectly. Of course, this only applies to manual transmission. Don't know about the egear. Never had one, never will have one.

I have replaced my clutch on a 2005 Gallardo 4 times, twice for slippage. I could feel the slippage as well as smell the burn especially when the car was cold. One clutch was used up in less than 200 miles from it.
I also have a question. My last two clutch replacements have shown up a vibration between 2,200 RPM's and 2,900 RPM'S then it goes away after 3,000 RPM'S. Have you experienced this? |
