Hi Guys
I was in Italy last week, and experienced strong vibration between 190-300 km/h There are no vibrations between 80-120 (meaning calibration of the wheels), I don't think it is a calibration issue. Any of you made similar experience, I heard rumours, that the vibrations could come from a worn out clutch (mine is e-gear)? Thanks for your feedback, rgds, erik |

Stock wheels and tires...or have they been changed to aftermarket?

If the vibration is in your steering wheel..most likely wheel alignment or balance, incorrect tire pressure..AND quite common that a NEW set of tires are true and round but your front tires are out of round and are fighting each other...should always replace a full set..
If the vibration is under your seat and not on the whell, then yes this is a sign of something else.. at hikgher speeds, does the car track straight....or do you have to contol the steering wheel more from one side? Best tire pressure is 34 front 36 rear...if the new tires where placed on by tire store, they may have over inflated them...can cause this as well..

CHECK THE TORQUE ON THE LUG NUTS!!! Since the rear wheels were just off, it's HIGHLY possibly they weren't torqued correctly or are simply lose...especially if it's happening at higher speeds. Past that, what Roy said, gotta know where the vibration is being felt to help diagnose.
Was the vibration there before you replaced the rear tires? If not, also possible to have a broken belt inside the tire, which you wouldn't be able to see until the tire exploded. Possible they forgot to balance the rear tires as well. Or, something going wrong with the front tires. Probably just added more to your list of concerns, but I'd start with what you did recently to the car and work backwards from there. Obviously, if it wasn't there prior to the tire change, then might have something to do with the tire change. Hope that helps. |

thanks for your replies!
I already checked the tyre pressure, and as you asumed, it was to high. You mentioned, that I have to controll the steering wheel, this was the case before adjusting the tire pressure, before it was scaring! the steering wheel was moving!! don't now if there is a connection betwen pressure and this phaenomenon? do you? regarding the torque of the wheels screewing this is something I need to check any other advice? to you know cases where there was a connection between vibrations at high speed and clutch wear? thanks |

HIGHLY unlikely clutch issue, would not vibrate to the steering wheel..
I would guess bad front tires, tire pressure, alingment, wheels not bolted down correctly or as Kevin says...and has happened to me before..a new tire with a BAD inner tread...take back to the tire shop, they can dismount and look on the inside if it is starting to seprate...but almost 99% sure something with the tires..

hey guys
here a quick update, I was on the phone with st. agata. They said, clutch is not the cause of it, unbalanced weehls ev. (but not likely), ev. some engine silent blocks, or fixation bolts, or the so called propeller shaft (likely) next week I will change the weehls (new one's), and check wheter it is gone or not keep you posted, rgds, erik |

here the next update
what a story! the balancing was compl. wrong, because of a off-set of the balancing mach., of nearly 50 gr. no the car is stable, but in 2 weeks I will drive it at high speeds and let you guys know rgds, erik |
