Yes, it's that time again - bored at work....
So, today's question is: - I have a decade or so of tracking cars under my belt, and experience says that there's certain things about a car which only get found out on track. I have heard the Gallardo brakes fade quite quickly but this may be fixed with a change of pad compound, how reliable is this info? and is there anything else which could be susceptible to track use? Also, how wallowy is a G on track? Do the tyres give up first before the suspension? |

This was in December in Florida so ambient track temp was not over 90, car ran warm but well shy of overheat. The tires would vary by about 3 psi from cold to end of session and I tended to do about 20 to 25 minute sessions. The wheels were coated in brake dust but I still have gobs of pad left. And... mileage averaged about 4.
The car was really rock solid, only things I was concerned with going in was fade and stories of ABS pumps dying when street cars are pushed into ABS too much in too short a period of time; I was activating it a lot more at the beginning but started to get the feel for taking it to just before activation after the first day so I didn't punish the pump too much. |

I should add, if you're used to driving a nimbler car, take your time with the Lambo, don't want to wreck it. If I went out and tried to drive the G like I drive my Radical (Sherman tank vs street bike) it would not be pretty, but for a car of its weight, the G performed quite well.
