Default Gallardo SE Exhaust

I am a new Gallardo SE owner and a new forum member. This is the first car forum I have taken part in and am amazed how much information can be found here. Thanks folks...........Being a Ferrari and Porsche guy I have been living on this site for a week and a half sucking in all the information I can about Lamborghini. My biggest question has been what exhaust to put on my car. The answer for me was quite Simple. I made my decision to purchase a system that is built by Orange County Lamborghini. I called them to order it and talked to Grant. Now what happened next is a lesson for all dealerships to learn from in my opinion. After explaining what I wanted to order he then told me that SE had a different exhaust and that I could bypass the baffle system and acheive a great sound. He wanted me to try this before purchasing a expensive system from him. I took it to GMT Motorsports here of which I am a partner in and we did this to the car. It took about 30 minutes and the results are simply wonderful. The sound is fantastic. For me, Orange County Lamborghini showed complete professionalism and will get business from me in the future. I have read on this site about bad experiences with dealers in other states but when credit is due I want to let everybody know the good also. These guys could have sold me something I didn't need but did the honorable thing. Thanks to them. Has anyone else done this to a SE? And thanks to Roy Cats for all the help he has given me.

Jay, is the sound now louder right across the range, or just louder at low revs? I've got an SE and it seems quiet at low revs but pretty loud over 4000rpm.

Default SE Exhaust

It makes it as loud at all RPM's. I'm telling you this is the way to go without a doubt. Its still the same above 3500 rpm it just keeps the baffle out of it all the time. My buddy and I bought 2 of these cars at the same time and we are estatic about what we did with the exhaust. I traded a challenge Stradale and was starting to second quess my decision until I figured it out. The car is simply to quiet at low rpm's to get me excitied. That is why I was looking for exhaust. Don't let anyone tell you our exhaust is the same as the others. You'll also get a lot of argument that our horsepower is the same. Let them talk...The SE has more.

OH BOY, here we go again......

This has been beat to death on the other LAMBO-POWER thread.....after many many inputs.......

I WILL say AGAIN and STAND BY my SOURCES>........

THE SE HAS a different exhaust and DOES have MORE HP than the standard MY06 car.!!

NOW most DEALERS/SALES people are NOT aware of the differences, but LET me ASSURE you the TECHS in the back room ARE!!!

The SE HAS a DIFFERENT flash computer program than the MY USA 06 coupe cars.......the EURO cars, which WE all know has approx 28 HP more, also THEIR exhaust is NOT the same as USA cars.......

Put this together, EPA and DOT test the car standards on a COUPE 06MY, the tests ONLY go to 3500 RPM, hince the baffel opening at 3500 RPM on the COUPE......THAT is WHY you can wire open the baffels on the SE, the baffels are set DIFFERENT on the SE than the 06MY.

THE SE which was the first set of cars built for 06, then the coupe and then spyder run.......

NOW, MOST SE units went to Europe, UAE, England, Japan and Canada and a couple other NON USA locations.......

I KNOW no one will EVER put this in writing OR ADMIT to it, BUT......ALL SE units were set to EURO standards and EURO exhaust with computer flash...THE FEW cars that came to USA, compared with the total number built, were mixed in with the 250 SE units, DO YOU think they stopped the LINE every so often and WENT OH a USA car, slow down the line and change....HELL NO!!

THE COUPE YES, becuase those are the tested units......and they WERE produced in COUNTRY bunches........also this is WHY EURO and others got their cars PRIOR to USA........

One other little know fact........THERE were more than 250 SE units.......my sources SHOW at least 254 cars, one car numbered #001 went to a very wealthy Japan Man that has FOR YEARS aquired the FIRST lambo off of the line, his current collection exceeds 50 LAMBOS>.....Some of you are familiar with him.......then there were at LEAST 3 cars at the END of the LINE that DID NOT get a number plate, but were runs for LEMON LAW replacement, a requirment of the FEDERAL GOVERMENT for ALL Vehicle Manufactures to retain a number based on precentage for LEMON LAW replacement.......THESE cars along with other LEMON REPLACEMENT cars are held in Boston, a storage facility for Lamborghini......

Hence you see a NEW 04 or so, that is released after the warranty period for the years model that has run its course with the LAST car out of service, (last car sold)......then the manufacture is allowed to release these cars......

Ford, CHrysler ect....all HAVE HUGE held back inventory for their Lemon Law replacement program, you can even sign up with them for Auction at the end of their hold time to purchase these vehicles......HOWEVER they are sold as is NO WARRANTY.......

OK, I KNOW there are going to be NUMEROUS chime ins that this is not correct......so I give you this last thought and challange.......

Take YOUR MY06 COUPE then find a friend with a SE,

1) Just listen to the sound change as the RPM increases

2) Run them side by side and see which crosses the line first

3) LAST but not least, run it on a DYNO, (AS I HAVE)
You will see on a Mustang two wheel dyno, which runs normally low,
that MY se had a HP rating of 531 after calculation to the rear wheels.

Enough said, enough done.......you have to make your decision from here!!

Default Get um Roy

Roy.......you crack me up!! You saved me spending about 5k for a exhaust. Your right though if nobody wants to believe these facts then who cares. I just can't wait to rev engines with you this sept at the Sunriver Exotic car show. Your lambo against my 1958 isetta last year had the crowd roaring with laughter. I also just added a 1989 factory 930 to my collection. The whole car was redone by prototech (in florida) in a year and a half project. Its only thowing 750 hp. Stage 4 motronic twin turbo. Its the only car i have ever owned that scares me to put the pedal down on.

Default Lamboxrays answer

Brandon,

I quess i didn't really answer you as to what I actually did to the exhaust.
If you have a SE you will notice that when you first start it it is really loud for about 5 seconds. It then quiets down. When turned off, the car makes no vacumn to the hose connected to the exhaust baffles. After 3-5 seconds the vacumn opens the chamber and quiets down the ehaust. It keeps doing this up to 3500 rpms. At that point the vacumn goes away and the baffle chamber closes thus pretty much staight piping the exhaust. All you simply have to do is pull the hoses off and plug them with a screw or clamp them. Now the baffles have no vacumn to them. The exhaust will sound the same at idle as over 3500 rpm. Obviously not as loud at idle. I did the same thing with my Challenge Stradale. The sound is a good as most expensive aftermarket exhausts. I don't claim to be a expert but this works great for me. Jay

Neat trick. I need mine quiet at low revs to keep the neighbours happy, or I would to it.

I hear you Roy. But does it mean all SE do not match the US collision standard (much higher then Europe), and will not pass the smog test on license renewal (specially in California), if they are "euro spec".

GOOD question, I do not know, I ASSUMe they would pass, I do not think the flash or exhaust is so much apollution deal as it a HP deal....

As far as the Bumper issue, MY understandiing is they now ARE better than USA, USA is 5mph, CANADA is 8 MPH, I recal in 2004 being ADVISED that ALL Lambo cars had the higher 8MPH bumpers to meet any and all country standards........

I do NOT know anything about the airbags ect for other countries...

If you have differnt PLEASE share.......
